Coil pack harness make over

Yo !

I was wondering if one of you guys have made a coil pack harness from scratch ? Mine are brittle and in the same time I would like to stretch it out a little bit more so I could re-locate the chip igniter somewhere cooler than right on the top of the coil pack cover ! My main concern was heat resistance, wires catching fire because they would not be rated for so much heat etc. Any ideas ?

buy a new harness, then just extend the wires, and wrap them in some sort of heat shield tubbing.

To be honest, to move the ignitor pack somewhere else is pretty useless, Nissan put it there for a reason so why not leave it? Also if your harness is still in working order no point replacig it, Now if your still convinced you want to move it. Your about an 1h30 from montreal why not hit up the jdm shops see what you can find and hack up. a new harness wont be cheap

a new harness is cheap ~$100-150. and moving the ignitor is a good idea since they do get really hot on top of the coil pack cover!

I thought of moving the ignitor, I think a good spot for it would be the spot right next to the vin badge on the firewall. Good temps and out of the way.

Right drive has harness for 69$ right now

Man do I wish they fit my s2 rb25.... My harness just melted all over my coilpacks...

Anyways at that price it's easier to just buy the harness and extend the wires

ill be moving mine to the firewall. Not quite to the vin but over to that side. Get that thing away from the heat RISING from your motor! you can wrap your wires in heat shielding, everything from black loom to spending time and wrapping it in reflective shielding, whatever you would rather do!

You can definitely make your own harness. Ignitor has the cylinder numbers printed on the output connector side. 6 wires one for each cylinder. These are a 5v signal from your ecu to fire each coilpack. There is another 3 pin connector on the oem harness, the wires are 12v power supply, timing loop and ground. Simply clip your coil connectors, wire in each 5 v signal, all grounds to a common wire back to 3 pin connector ground, and all 12v coil connector wires to a common 12 v supply wire on the 3 pin. You don't have to use the timing loop pin but if you want to run your cylinder 1 ground wire to that pin on the 3 pin connect. Just clipping and taping that timing wire will do you fine.
