Couture absolutely owns Tim Sylvia. You gotta love it. Went the full five rounds and Randy won all of them. Tim was a total punching bag.

Definitely a great fight to watch. I honestly thought Couture was going to take a beating but it was the total opposite. Probably one of the best UFC fights I've seen in a long time.

I figured Randy had a real shot at it, especially after Sylvias performance against Monson and Arlovski. I didn't figure he would dominate like that.

hah, that was awesome to see. I'm so glad Tim Sylvia lost his belt. It was kind of bittersweet for me though. At one hand, I wanted to Tim to win so that he can retire never to fight again after he fought Crocop. On the other hand, it's great to see that Tim is nothing more than just a lumbering oaf, and further cements that if Fedor and Tim fought...Fedor would absolutely destroy him. And when I mean destroy, I mean 1st round ko, 20 seconds into the fight, Zuluzinho styles, destroy.

What sucks now is that Randy has to retire(and no more future come backs!) after he fights CC.

Thats why Tim Sylvia turned down Fedor's challenge. Tim is a crappy fighter. I can't believe Joe Rogan when he say "I don't know why Tim doesn't get respect" It's because Tim is a total floater. I thought we might see a different side of Timmy after the third round. He had to know he needed to finish him off, but he looked like a deer in the head lights.

I think everyone (including UFC execs) bumped up Silvia's abilities articificially. Going on about how badass he was, his size, reach and showing highlights of him tenderizing opponents.

I wasn't 100%+ but Couture is a much more intelligent fighter that should have been able to circumvent all that brawler mentality. I think UFC knew that too. But they wanted people to tune in to see if the Oaf would destroy the veteran - or if they had a storybook comeback.

Maybe not the best example but you remember when Tyson was on the comeback trail after jailtime he fought all thouse huge guys and the promoters played tape of these guys destroying "opponents" then people payed to see fights that lasted under 2 rounds of Tyson ownage.

Too bad Couture is retiring, such a standup guy, great for the sport so public will take it seriously. He can totally kick ass but wihout the schoolyard pissing contests most engage in.

That was a fantastic fight, Randy simply dominated in all aspects. What really strikes me is how intelligent of a fighter he is. At one point Tim had him in perfect position for some knees to the head, but Randy had the wherewithal to stretch his hands out and touch the ground, which meant that Tim wasn't allowed knees to the head (as an aside, they need to change that rule; in Pride, that's some of the most exciting action, especially with Wanderlei). Anyhow, good for Randy, he definitely deserved it tonight.

Speaking of which, did anyone watch Pride 33: The Second Coming? That Diaz vs. Gomi fight was fantastic!

yeah I saw the Pride 33 card. That was an awesome night man. Full of upsets..was awesome. I'm still wondering about the Gomi vs Diaz fight though. I swear Gomi was drunk or something. After 3 minutes, he gassed!! WTH, he never gasses. I mean here's a guy who had a war with Kawajiri, and then fought Azeredo to a decision the same night! And mind you, these were 10 minute first rounds. So it was either Gomi enjoyed Vegas a little too much or he just didn't care about the fight. Maybe it was because it was a non-title fight. That's the thing about Pride, they have these silly non-title fights and you have people wonderning who's number one.

Non-Title fights remind me of "Pro" Wrestling. A bunch of BS for sure.
