  • Your Dream DD

Now I'm really bored right now, and i had a sort of curious question.

What is everyones dream daily driver?

now here are a few things to think about before you just say A maybach or something like that...
    - the car can be any car but you don't have an unlimited budget (imagine you got the car for free as you are now) so think about gas and maintenance.
    - It will be a dd so think about comfort, practicality, easy to park, etc., etc.

Okay so here is my choice.
    -2009 Audi A4 quattro Avant

    and here is why:
    - 2L inline 4 turbo is good on gas and produces enough power to get a car load of friends around at a reasonable speed.
    - the power, the awd, and the trunk space will haul me, my friends and all our biking/snowboarding gear up the mountains for our frequent recreational trips.
    - a waggon/hatch is so practical in day to day life
    - has the performance ability that if you happen to stumble across driving road heaven, the moment wont go to waste.
    - It looks fantastic (IMO)
    - it's big enough inside and small enough outside that it (I've heard) has no problems whatsoever negotiating tight parking garages.

    alright, now what's yours?

evo 6 TM edition or a lexus is-f. both are sedans and have ample room for people and luggage.

1990 civic hatch - its a hatch so it has space, very good on gas even if you throw mods on it like crazy, and small and nimble so cornering is fun.

2000 Mazda Millenia - such a wonderful car I drove it once for a rental and its amazing, they obviously don't make them anymore but even the used ones are great.

If your looking for more "sporty" and not necessarily gas mileage and such, definitely go with a newer car such as the Audi A4. I know the civic isnt much on the hauling of gear up the mountains, but i would love one for a DD.

It's actually called a Smartuki. Theres a website for it somewhere.

But take that, add a turbo kit to it, and a Brabus "Yacht" Fortwo bodykit
                    and we will be talking.

An R35 would be a nice DD, but apparently the ride quality is harsh.hmm.

maybe an Audi R8, or a Lightning GT-electric motors FTW.

I think you guys, getting it all wrong. Daily driver is daily driver, not a hardcore race car (GTR, 911 wide body...)

I think for me it would be a Mazda 5 with manuial tranny. It's a minivan with manual tranny, and economical 2.4L engine.

Thread is titled "Your Dream DD" ...so as long as you can afford the maintenance and fuel its alright. I'm sure if you actually could have anything as your DD you would not pick a Mazda 5.

If you think a 911 widebody is the ideal for you dd, I think you are missing the point a bit. Now we all live in Canada (at least the majority of us), so the car has to be able to cope with the winters. It has to be practical and have space for anything that might need hauling around daily, or just frequently (ie. groceries, work/office/school supplies, pets, friends etc. etc.) It should also be a car that you wouldn't be to afraid to leave parked on the bad side of town....
also if you live in the city or frequently find yourself there, take that into consideration aswell. (ie easy to park, and manuever in traffic)

If a 911 widebody is the most practical car you can come up with for the situation you are in right now (whatever that may be).... I'm pretty sure you missed the point.

a GTR could be a dd no problem, 4 seats, a trunk, awd.... but would it be the most practical?

this thread is for "dream" (I probably should have said ideal) DD. not just your dream car.

It's not limited to cars. If your life requires a truck. It wouldn't make much sense for you to say a smartcar best suits your life.

Hey, at least a Fortwo is more practical than a motorcycle...the trunk space on a Fortwo is better than you would expect.

For me, I would just need to get to school and work, a GT-R or Fortwo would serve me fine.

Exactly why I said 911 Carrera 4S, and not the turbo. Power isn't overly excessive (for Porsche's standards at least), ample cargo space, and for me a DD is just a comuter so comfort for passengers isn't really an issue.
