Great Thanks. The rust hotspots will help a lot when I start really looking into getting a car. I want to make sure I get a jewel of a car.

I got my 95 240 at 17, pearl white on black leather beautiful car and performs great in stock forms all I did was cat back exhaust and lowered it 1.2". Drove it like that for two years and loved the car.
Then I swapped out for sr20det and that made the 240 in to a beast and I drove that car every summer for 7 years with the sr20, and bye the time I sold it for my GTR it was putting down just over 300hp, and with regular maintenance I had zero problem's.
So go with the 240 you will love the car.

Everyone's saying 240....I'm planning to go the other way with the AE86 since there are WAY too many 240's around that are either bagged or auto.

If I get lucky and in fact find a 240 thats manual and isn't bagged, I'll go for it then, shouldn't be TOO bad to insure. That way, I can change my plans for a Levin front on an AE86 to an Sil Eighty front on a 240 hatch (I don't find the pop up lights too attractive unless paired with fender flares and projectors).

What I wanna know is, how's the 240 for leg room. I'm 6'2 and since I'll be the only one in the family with a car, I'll be chauffeur and have to do grocery runs.

Again he said, "still though its a 20yr old car"

Good luck finding an AE86 that isn't twice as bagged on or beat up as most 240's.

240's have fine leg room, I'm 6'2" as well...no complaints.

I've actually contemplated 240's quite a bit after reading this...pound for pound cost might be far cheaper in the long run. If I need wheels, basic 15's will do, and upgrades are a penny a dozen.

Now my only concern is back seat space, and grocery carrying ability...

April is when the time rolls around for me to get a car. I'll bank on Craigslist until then.
