  • Good Trade?

    my car:
93 gts-t with 150,000 kms. Lightly modded, runs well.

    for:
89 Sylvia K's. 113,000 kms. 500 hp CA, needs turbo rebuild.

I think it looks good. but I won't trade if the turbo is completely finished, because if i can't test drive it then there is no way to know if it really has the internals that he is stating.

How much would a rebuild cost? I'm guessing it is probably a 3071R turbo or something similar. I will also have it checked out at Trans Star to make sure it looks like the car is built well.

So would this be fair? I think it is because this car stock would be worth a little less than a gts so with that power it seems good.

if your daily driving it, i would stay away. But if its just a screw-around track car, then it might be worth the trade for a car with a solid hp output.

Ya I never really thought of that. Could just want to trade because he needs a DD and doesn't have enough for the turbo rebuild. I'll check it out.

I find bagged cars that are built do well in my hands. I have the more severe issues with stock cars. Find out what turbo is in it and make sure you can rebuild it then i say do it.

So long as the 500 hp claim is true

              A 500HP CA?

No offense, but the only reason I'd trade a car (Silvia) for another RWD car that is heavier, has 300 less horsepower, and less kilometers is if there was something seriously wrong with my own car. A blown turbo is a pretty easy/cheap fix. An engine that has high leakdown numbers and is on its last legs is not a cheap fix.

Ya that could also be true. Either way I will have it checked out and if hurby thinks it looks good I will take it for sure. I'm probly going to put my RB20 that I'm building in it this winter, so It doesn't really matter if it blows. hopefully not, so that I can sell the internals.

for a Silvia K? put the silvia up on a lift, take it for a drive and if it looks good take it! I love my GTST to death but if you're not Skyline attached then a premium Silvia is at least a really interesting trade that I think you'd have alot of fun with

Leakdown and check for rot, ask for dyno.
If everything seems kosher sure, go for it.

                    Otherwise I wouldn't bother.

To be honest i think i am skyline attached lol. Whenever i get offered trades i get so into it and then after a few days i don't want to sell my skyline at all. plus he hasn't said anything else.
