  • F*CK. Suggestions?

Tried to replace the wheel cylinders on my '90 corolla today. after taking half an hour to get the damn drums off because they were so seized in and stuck to the shoes, the f**king bolts that hold the wheel cylinder on and the bolt to the brake line are all seized on. i tried fire. i tried a hammer. i tried penetrating oil. i tried all my vice grips and wrenches and nothing has helped.
any ideas before i finish power drilling through the old cylinder to get it off?

oh, and im supposed to be at work in an hour and a half. it's a half hour drive. FML

EDIT:nevermind, broke everything and got it off. now i need a new brake line.
I've been brushing my teeth with jack but it's resulted in terrible amounts of tooth decay.

haha yeah its normally only about 2 mins of cursing before we just grab the torches and cut things apart here. Being flat rate makes you quick to torch stuff lol. I envy people who get to work on clean unrusted cars.

Heat + Torque, use a jack handle on a ratchet you don't care about.
        Works 9/10 times.

nah, it's my winter car and i love it. i don't want to spend the money for a new winter beater, i've got better stuff to do with my cash.

and it's only 19! damn, it's younger than me and and it looks way hotter lol

I've never sheared the head off a bolt doing that.
Mind you I don't just stand on it, I kick it.

My impact gun works most of the time though, so I don't have to result to that.
And hey, if it shears then you needed new hardware anyway right?

                      My strategy is always...

Go to Nissan (or any other dealer you are familiar with)
Tell them the car is leaking oil from somewhere, and you are not sure where.
They will check it out and find no leak.
You tell them, "well, while the car is up on the lift anyway, why don't you.......(In this case say the bolts are seized and why don't they see if they can loosen them for you"
They will usually loosen up the bolts and send yo on your way for free. At least in Japan.
