but oh my, this rotary sounds like an f1 engine

That is a great looking and sounding RX-8, but my favorite rotary engined car of all time is still the Scoot RX-7. N/A 4-rotor motor. Sounds scary.

There's a handful more. I spent the good part of a day doing nothing but research on this car. I was competely in love with it.

Well the RPMs go up past 9k, it has 4 rotors, and makes about 350bhp without the help of forced induction. The body is mostly bespoke, it has gullwing/scissor doors, and even the pillars are tampered with to some extent. I have some very hard to find shots of the car on my HD if anyone is interested. Best Motoring had a segment on the car years back, and the rights to the body kit have been sold to Tamon Design, which manufactures the kit in coupe and convertible form. The full kit costs around 14k. And just in case you didn't notice, it is based on the FD3S platform.
