In the same way a speed skater or hockey player could school a figure skater at figure skating?Originally posted by FormerVDubber View PostWith that said JD74 I completely agree with you...Drifting looks like a ton of fun and involves quite a bit of driver skill...but I can guarantee you a rally driver with practice could skool your typical drifter at his own game.
Now I agree that drifting isn't so much a sport, as it is a performance or an art. But it does take it's own kind of skill. That's not to say a rally driver couldn't drift, for instance Tanner Foust started his driving career in rally. All I'm saying is that they're their own different sports.

Not at all the same. The skills required in Drifting are adaptations of skills used in rally. The real difference here is how those skills are applied. A rally driver uses drifting to get thru an uneven narrow path as fast as possible only having the co-driver as a guide. A drifter trys to out..umm...pretty the others guys drift in a closed course. I do have repect to the drifters in the same way that I repect the abilities of a figure skater but thats as far as I'll go.Originally posted by Wolfattak View PostIn the same way a speed skater or hockey player could school a figure skater at figure skating?

That just makes them tall fat gay hockey players doesnt it?Originally posted by Oakville View Postas weird as it sounds, 2 out of 3 top level hockey players out here are huge into figure skating, and these guys arent fairies or anything. 6'4" 210 doing this stuff, it really helps with footwork, balance, and overall agility. I am taking this from Toronto youth hockey...idk about the rest of the world.
I mean showering with a bunch of other naked doods baked that cake already.

its true, theres absolutely no way they can do some of the crazy **** they do if they have doubt or second thoughts, but i think rally drivers are the craziest of them allOriginally posted by FormerVDubber View PostThey say pro race car drivers need to have the same type of mind set as fighter pilots...so what your saying is quite true...

True that. I think it's impossible to psych out a rally driver. I remember several years ago when I first started really watching rally seeing Mcrae(RIP) roll twice and still finish within the top 10 or so. oh how i love rally... oh how i cant afford to do rallyOriginally posted by derk View Postrally drivers are the craziest of them all

lol a confusing thread to say the least, but I don't know. They did it from 12-16 years old, I don't know if they stayed with it when they moved up to the OHL, all I know is the kids I know that did it were drafted within the top 5 in all of Ontario and Quebec for the OHL entry draft.Victory is on the horizon..
