my dad was actually talking about seeing this video the other day...once before I have texted while driving, it seemed like an emergency so I responded, and almost rearended the guy infront of me. it takes something like that to get the point across, im lucky I looked up when I did. Haven't even touched my phone since.
Hmmm... It sounds like it's being launched as some form of campaign...? (From what I understand in the blurb before). Seems a bit long. Yes definitely intense and would sure drive the point home I'm sure.
I don't text and drive because I love my FMIC too much

Im not going to say i dont text and drive.. I do all the time.. Hell i text while on my motor bike..
but then i again i can type on my phone without looking.. so its not a huge distraction..
however BC is going to have no phone laws soon.. so i will have to be more discrete..

i still stand by the if they are gunna ban cellphone use unless they are hands free, they should ban the use of laptop's in cop cars, those are just as if not more distracting then a small cellphone.
Need your cellphone unlocked to use on another carrier? msg me for details, fast quick and cheap.

I disagree about banning laptop use in police vehicles, I see where you're coming from, but most of the time a police officer can't just pull over to run a plate.
I see it as texting can wait until you're done driving, if it was hella important, the message wouldn't have been conveyed using a text. If the police pull over to check something about someone then they'll probably have gone by the time the police find out they were a wanted drug dealer.
another thing i brought up with my friend also brought what you said up, was they have radio's for a reason, there is a dispatch person working to do that kinda work for them.

I think for Ontario it's passed, but not in effect yet.
It takes effect in October, now the only way you can use your phone is via a bluetooth headset or any handsfree device, even though its not the idea of holding the phone for the most part, but that when you're in a deep conversation you arent exactly focusing on the road, but off in space trying to talk to the other guy.

Hmmm...
They were talking about even banning bluetooth in BC at some point, which I think it ludicrous. It was discussed on a talk show, not sure how far it ever got.
Oakville I do not necessarily agree with what you put. You need two hands to drive safe and efficiently. And for the most part it's dialing and texting that cause the most concern. Yes you may be distracted by the conversation, but so are you with a passenger in the car. That would be like them enforcing a rule saying you couldn't talk to your passenger, or listen to your navigation device... or the radio for that matter as your attention is diverted from the road.

That's a good point, and I'm going to retort with that sometimes the dispatcher is busy!

Yeah thats true, I just know when I'm in a phone conversation (headset) sometimes im looking off into the clouds trying to think of an answer for the caller etc. As much as your hands are both there, mentally you're still a bit preoccupied, and unfortunately thats the next step in the long line of cell phone driving bans.
