the satallite systems in our transport trucks at work run off a text based program, but all the new systems have Text-to-Speech. now they just need speech-to-txt. If someone text's me while driving, it's not important and can wait, if it's important they'll call.

But it will never happen. It would seem illogical as you could get just as lost, if not more distracted, by a conversation with someone in the car while watching physical gestures or making eye contact. Or at least so I hope. I know they were discussing it in BC on a talk show as I previously mentioned so I guess I shouldn't say never... the government surprises me every single day...

Super Joel that vid was awesome, def tagged as a favorite.

Am I the only sick person here who thought that video was damn awesome? Would have been better if it was actually real though.

For me this is the biggest issue, who cares if someone has something in their hand. I only drive with one hand anyway.
People who are on cell phones are in another world. How many times have you seen people walking on the street talking on the phone, they are not paying attention to anything around them. Driving and talking on a cell phone is different than talking to your passenger as the passenger is in the same world as you. On the cell phone your mind enters another world. Pretty dangerous while driving.

I will never understand the fascination with Texting......

Cell phones are PHONES, YOU USE THEM TO TALK.

Texting is for kids that live at home with their parents and can't afford to pay airtime charges......

I prefer texting too, it's easier as both the sender and receiver can do it at the time that best suits them. For urgent issues I do call though.

I really can't understand how people can justify texting and driving. Even talking on the phone is bad but at least if you have hands free it's somewhat better.

Think back to all the times you've been driving and consider if you've ever texted or been dialing a phone# or anything and looked up to see that you were outside of your lane, on the rumble strip or the shoulder and consider yourself lucky that at that exact moment no one was there. Even if you say oh I made sure no vehicles were coming and I always stay in my lane, well wildlife could jump out on the road in front of you in the same moment it takes to look at your screen and read a message or look down to find the key you needed to press.

If you're going to text and drive do us all a favor and at least don't do it in your skyline, it doesn't deserve to pay the price for your stupidity.
