  • More people trying to screw me over lol!

Well I got a reply to my ad on Kijiji asking what my final asking price was. I said "make me an offer. where are you located?"

This is what I got in response. lol.

    Hello .

Thank you for the details of your vehicle and final asking price. I want you to consider this vehicle sold as my dedication and interest towards the purchase is strong. I am located now in Afghanistan but based on the United States legislative and executive decision for withdrawing troops from the Middle East come next year, I have been deployed to come and work in your country's military base soonest.. Our mission is to help beef up terrorist targeted states, mostly the United States and the European Union on the war against terrorism. I will need a car for myself and that is why I contacted you. I want to ask that you remove the car from the site and reserve it for me pending my arrival to your country in a few weeks.

On the other hand, I have a very important and confidential deal that I intend to execute with your assistance. I am involving you in this deal because I do not have much of a choice considering my present Status, Location and limited time. A departed comrade of mine that stood by me during the troubles of war, died by an explosion from a suicide bomb attack in Basra, left behind a fortune of (US$12,500,000). Before his death he informed me about this money he had locked in a box and deposited with a Red Cross Agent. Arrangements are being made to transport his belongings to his country’s Military base unless any of his relations agrees to receive them.

I have been giving the official mandate to approve what happens with his personal belongings. This is why I contact you to present you as a relative of my late comrade. This will be accomplished under a justifiable pact that will shield you against any permissible implication. If this dealing suggestion affronts your ethical principles, do acknowledge my request for forgiveness.

All that is required from you in this deal is to provide your full information and mailing address so that I can forward it to the Red Cross agent and inform him that you are a relative or in-law of the late soldier. No body knows the content of the box as it was deposited with the Red Cross agent as books and other personal effects so I am sure they will not hesitate to send them to you instead of shipping them to the military base where it will require a lot of documentation and inspection. Once I give them your information and address they will package the consignment and ship it the nearest Red Cross affiliate courier company from where it will be shipped to your home address. I have everything all planned and worked out, all I need is your honest and transparent cooperation.

Most importantly you must understand that this deal demands 100% secrecy to ensure security and smooth delivery of the box to you. I will expect your swift and favorable response so that we can talk more on what you will get for your involvement in this deal.

    Best Regards,

    Capt. Jim Morin

man these are getting creative. I like how he started the email off with "Thank you for the details of your vehicle and final asking price" yet I said absolutely nothing on these topics except "make me an offer." Helllllo cut-and-pasted scam template!

Thats funny. I don't get why they always ask for your name and address? I would assume they'd ask for your card numbers or something. Or is the address so they can come take the car?

Name / Address / Phone Number......they can call you up, pretend to be your credit card company, and they have a lot of information they can provide to you so you think it's legit.

General rule of thumb, if someone calls you saying they're from your credit card company, you should ask for their name / department, and then say something like "I've been having problems with my phone lately and this is a really serious / important call, if we get disconnected, what number can I call you back and reach you at?"

Then tell them that, to confirm they're from your credit card company, you're going to call the number on the back of your card and ask for them.

Call the 1-800 number on the back of your card, ask if name works in said department, and if you can speak with them. If they say no one works there with that name, then tell them someone called you asking for detailed credit card information from the number on your call display (if you have one), and they gave a call back number of (whatever they said).
