  • Spider Cage: 56k death sentence (does anyone even use that sh*t anymore?)

Ok now I've never drooled over cages before like most of you hardcore guys (and in turn never really paid attention to them), but when I saw this, I finally knew how you all felt for the first time.

    like omg.

Strut bar welded to the firewall..

Look how close it matches up with the car's body itself

Another roof shot in the fitting stage..

How'd they get to weld when it's so close to the roof?

    SECRET:

Carve a hole in the floor for the bottom of the cage to drop, and bam! Plenty of room!

    Anyone want?

Annnd for kicks... this is the guy that owns the car (after scraping 30+ pounds of material off the bottom of the car and inside the fenders by holding a saw above his head for over 10h. holy f).

he, however, did not do the welding. such a man hides behind his welding mask like the Stig of welding... some sayy that he thinks "present value" is some type of gift card AND that he sleeps with a cardboard cutout of the Dalai Lama... all we know is.. his name is Kyle.

              No.

              It's a 2.5RS. A "GC8" is code for the 4 Door.

                umm... wrong.

i was merely using GC8 because i thought we all commonly knew what it was as opposed to having to say "hey is that a 1993-2001 subaru impreza?"

if you REALLY want to get technical... GC8 is the designation for the jdm 93-01 impreza wrx/sti, the north american ones were GC/F/M-4/5/6 is the chassis code for the North american impreza sedan/wagon/coupes, GC8's can be either coupe or sedan, ie: Impreza WRX STi Ver.6 Type R, which is a GC8, and is also a 2door.

                2.5RS is not a chassis code. its a GM6.

uhm.. actually it's a bit of an anomaly lol...

this isn't going to be entered in any serious races, despite 15 sponsors and such an attention to detail etc (they did the seam welds after this)..

                      BOTH of you are wrong

                      there are no 2-door GC8s.

                      AAAAAND it's not a 2.5RS either.. it's...

                      a POS Impreza L!

                      lmao.

buttt absolutely everything except the shell is being replaced with '05 STi stuff. so he's aiming for 400hp in a 2600lb car.

my focus was the cage, but I guess I might have to post up the build thread huh

I know. You asked if it was a GC8. It isn't. So I said no. What's wrong with that? Someone piss in your cereal this morning?

I had a feeling. Typically not a lot of people who go with the STI swap actually start with a 2.5RS due to cost. Sick build anyways. Zulu just picked up a caged out/rally 2.5RS. We're going to do some stage/TSD and rallycross.
