holy crap, there's some really upset people out there...im gonna have to rethink this.
the problem is that SAM costs like $42,000 for the full program, that's as much as med school.
hopefully Hennessey knows what they're doing and i can just ignore any lessons on scamming customers

                        What's SAM?
If you want to get into motorsports from the mechanical side, there are other ways that DON'T cost $42,000.

                            Whore yourself.
Shameless self-promotion goes a long way in this field.

Personally I believe in not spending a DOLLAR on ANY education unless you know 100% you will need it for the career that you know 100% that you want to do. So unless you know FOR SURE you want to do this for a career, and you know FOR SURE that you NEED to spend that 42k to get in somewhere... I wouldn't bother.

Work for free/pennies for a few weekends with a team. Build connections at the track, offer your services to another, bigger team next time using your current team as a reference. Etc etc.
I'm a firm believer that in motorsports it's WAY WAY more who you know than what you know. And it's not too hard to build up a decent portfolio of experience when you're willing to work for dirt cheap/free.

What branch of motorsports are you trying to get into? Touring? NASCAR? Open-Wheel? Rally?

Exactly... m_melen do you know how many tuner shops would be up for a free wrench, who just wants to learn? Whether it's cleaning the floors of the shop, or replacing the tires at trackdays, if you work hard and well, your effort will be well rewarded, and after a few years or so, guaranteed you'll make some good contacts, AND some good friends.

It's one of the things I plan on doing when I move to Japan - I want to go volunteer my time to a tune shop, and maybe work somewhere small (as a bus driver or something) full time, until I have enough contacts to get into the tuning game.

As CanadianGTR said, it's all about building rep.

As for this Hennessey thing... GTRC saves another soul lol.
