  • Story About My Skyline

Well I have been obsessed with these cars for a good 3-4 years now but one drew my attention the most the r32 gtr. Coming from a family who owns all domestic vehicles and my father and uncles all grew up with muscle cars. No matter what I did or said to them about the potential and incredible power of these cars no one really listened and I often got discouraged to just get a "normal" vehicle. I went to a few car lots with my dad and test drove mustangs, camaros and one gtp none which I liked at all, I had never been in a skyline but just through my research I knew it would of put shame to any of these cars. One night I was cruising a local hotspot where cars usually hang out and I saw it! An r32 gtr exactly what I have ever wanted I got my friend to pull in and I got out I just had to see it. The car was gtrc member turismo's and it was beautiful. I told my parents day in and day out about it and how nice it was. One of my uncles the only one who didn’t own a muscle car back in the day but instead a datsun 240z knew all about these cars and surprising to me quite a bit of the history of the car. It was basically me and him against the rest of my family for getting a vehicle like this. 3 weeks later my uncle was diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumour which shocked our family beyond belief. The doctor didn’t give him long to live. Family from Ottawa came down to visit with him after they heard the news. I ended up getting a ride to Ottawa with one of my aunts and her boyfriend from there I began my quest to look for my gtr. I looked at 3 in Ottawa and I wasn’t too impressed with the condition of any of the 3. I extended my search into Quebec where I finally got the chance to go to some jdm dealers and I found my baby at jdm Montreal. Basically stock with some minor add ons and 78000kms. I did a check and everything seemed to be good just needed new rotors, pads and tires. I called my parents and told them about the car and they were not to impressed I made my way into Montreal by myself to go look at cars and then I told them I bought one that one went over well. I drove my recently bought car to my aunts house in Ottawa and set home early morning. My car was not able to be certified because it needed new rotors. pads and tires which I bought it knowing. I got new tires and new rotors and pads from ztune which had excellent service and fast shipping. I had no idea where to start with the car and I wanted to get it on the road to take to my uncles house to show him because I new if I put it into storage (this was around October) and did the work over winter and not worried about insurance I may never get the chance to show him. This is where turismo came in and offered to help me with the installation. He taught me so much about the car and did a great job, thanks to turismo my car was on the road! I was able to take my uncle for a drive but couldn’t go fast or accelerate hard because of his condition but the whole time there was a smile on his face it was his first time in a gtr. He is now in critical condition and in his last stages of life. This is very hard on our family but we are doing everything in our power to cope with this. I just wanted to share with you fellow members my story!

That is really a great story man. Im sure it really made him happy to get to experience that with you, acceleration or not. Its probably even better for him because he knew you wanted to make it happen so badly. Congrats on your new car and my condolences to your uncle. How old is he by the way?

thats really sad to hear a person that gets a bum go at life just because of a profession he chose or even just because of his genes..

What a story. I know how you feel being in a domestic domanated world (you think these people would smarten up!) but they'll come around as soon as you can take 'em for a ride. My dad is hard core muscle car too and he loves my GT-R.
My sympathies to you and your family. Atleast you were able to have that time with him, experiences like that are invaluable.
            Thank you for the story.

Great story man, it's always great to hear when someone has accomplished a long awaited venture. Your uncle must be proud and i'm sure your parents will come around to the car in due time. My parents were taken aback by my purchase as well, but the heart wants what it wants! Good luck with the car; just remember everyone from GTRC is always around to help!
Wish the best for your uncle.

Wow sad story man. Similar situation with me but Im not going to thread jack my uncle aswell. My entire family did not want the car, i bought it and they were mad, my uncle was the only one who liked the car, he liked it because it was original low kms had no rust and tons of power. Took him for a drive and he loved it, we lost him little over two years ago. miss him alot. and my best wishes go out to your family in your time of need man!

My dad likes the car I'm going to get. My mom and step dad don't like the idea of me driving on the "other side" of the car.

I told her. People crash cars, not cars crash cars.

As long as I'm careful I'll be fine

                  Good story man

What the fcuk man? I was making a suggestion. It's hard on the eyes to read. It has nothing to do with his Uncle being sick.

What's with everyone being a bitch lately?

OP... Sorry to hear about your Uncle, I have lost a few family members over the last little while and know what you're going through. Please don't take my original post the wrong way, it was merely a suggestion for next time.

Its just that maybe its time to ease up a little with stating the obvious, or voicing negative opinions.
