What's your car worth to you...?

I thought of this the other night and I thought it would be interesting to get others thoughts/ideas/opinions.

Basically I'm curious as to what you would sell your car for today. If you were filling it up with gas, how much money would someone have to walk up and offer you for you to just take the money and run? Or what would you expect from an insurance payout (if you're in the process this could either be used to your advantage or against yourself so be careful).

Let's not all be Oakvilles and claim we wouldn't let it leave our grasps for any amount of money under the sun because we all know that's bs, even if you'd just take the money and buy another one after pocketing a few grand for your troubles.

At the same time don't flame someone for what they value their car at. If they bought a $8,000 GTS and put $12k into it, then they wouldn't want less than $20k to walk away from it (they'd rather enjoy it) even though we all know if may be worth much less.

I put this in OT so we could all discuss other vehicles. Maybe you want to share details about the car and how much $$$ you've put into it. Maybe not.

For my GTS-t I wouldn't want anything less than $8500-$9000 after installing the new stuff this winter. It's probably where I will realistically list it next summer if I decide to sell it (depending on what I've done to it by then). That depends on the market and other cars for sale as well though... it's tough lately I see.

I'm interested to see what other members value their cars at. Anyone else care to share?

Well, from insurance I would be fine with around $12-13,000, which would get me something a bit less nice with slightly higher mileage, but still a decent car to replace it.

However, if in the random event somebody asked me if he could buy my Celica, I don't think I would accept anything under the $20,000 mark. I know it's not that valuable of a car, but it's my baby, and it would take no less for me to justify parting with it.

I would probably break at $25k. My car isn't worth nearly that much, but that would be the breaking point where money speaks more than the sentimental value.

I know mine is just a gts-t. But for all the parts on it and stuff, and how much I am paying for it. If the average joe or anybody walked up with 25000. I would let it go. I have NOOO intention of getting rid of it which is why I have it at that much.

The previous owner Mike put 24,000 into the car, not including the paint job. So i got a good deal on the car (in my books). So i wouldn't sell it

My type M is insured for a gauranteed payout of 14,800 so I would never sell it. I would only get money if it was written off. If I sold it myself I doubt I would see 9-10k

i'd part with mine for 25k once it's back together. i really have no intention of ever selling it, hence the high price. i figure i could replace it with a slick evo 8 for that price

Paid $7,000 for my GTS-T but I've put ~$10,000 into it in repairs,ripoffs,upgrades.
I've got about 2k+ going into the RB20 (2.0L FTW!) and have plans for more. But first I must replace my rear diff that blew yesterday. (-38C FTL!)

If I were to sell... I like to think I wouldn't sell, but if somebody were to hand me $15K I would sign it over then and there.

bought my GTS for around 6000, put close to 3-4000 into it and over100 hours combined.
i would let it go for 20G, its just not a car that i want to ever sell, becuase i would just get another one lol.
my fairlady i would let go for 5-6G cause i dont care for it much.

Bought my FD for 9.5K USD. Once it was all said and done registered in Canada I was around 11K CAD. Since then I've bought two engines, two EMS, fuel system stuff, Turbo kit etc etc.

All said and done I'm into it for around 25k and it's not even running now. That cost dosen't even include any suspension, interior or wheels. That's going to be another 5-6k later next year. Street value it's not worth more than 18k. Therefore I don't plan to sell it. I'll just dump more money in it.

I can't imagine how much I would be into it if I didnt do all of my own work.

^ I agree with falcon. If i was to sell my gtr, i would realistically get 12-14k and i'm in way more than that in parts, not even including the car. So the only (il)logical thing to do is dump more cashmoney into it.
