The Supra is more like a Corvette than a muscle car. The AWD part of the GTR is the only thing that sets it apart from all the American "Pony" cars, not really "Muscle" cars. The 1st gen F-body Camaro/Firebird, Mustang, 'Cuda, Challanger and to a lesser extent the AMC Javalen fall into that catigory.

The true "Muscle" cars were mid size, full frame cars with stupid power (at the time) that overpowered the chassis and the brakes. The Toyota full size cars (about the same size as an n/a mid size) with a 2JZ would be the closest match.

As for Detroit making an everyday coupe into a world destroyer I think the Trans Am prepared Camaros, Firebirds, 'Cudas and Mustangs would be all over a Bathurst prepared GTR like white on rice. That is a race I would LOVE to see.

They're like bellybuttons but I hate to say that the Fox body Mustang is the most "Bang for your Buck" way to go. Parts are stupid cheap and a fully forged stock bottom end ('88-'91 I believe) will hold 700hp all day long on a single turbo set-up. Come to think of it the '88 to '92 notch back Mustangs are starting to get rare nowadays......food for thought.

              Jon.

From what I understand Muscle cars were cars with oversized engines, like bigblock V8 with decent hp (up to 500hp). RB30 would be close for converting a R32 GTR, R32 GTS model or Hakosuka GTR to a Muscle car. RB30 was fitted to R31 Skyline chassis. Or RB28 that was fitted to R33 GTR Lemans racecars, R34 Ztune.

I agree, the Transam Firebird with Bigblock has pull from down low to help when pulling out of low speed corners and I was quite surprised after going for a ride in a Transam Firebird at how well it handled. I think engine had close to 430hp, as it felt like that.

At least that's that's what I can figure by looking at year of car, bigblock engine it might have had -

                RESPONSE MONSTER

The most epic signature ever "epic".

In all honesty though, someone asked if America ever built a world destroyer sedan? Well here it is:

For the money, this is an EXCELLENT car.

The bottom ends in the 302 mustangs kinda sucked..... The 87-91 cars had TRW forged pistons but a cast crank, rods, and pistons. Those weren't even the deal breakers though, you will break the stock block in half before you break even the "crappy" hypereutectic pistons.

You're right..the CTS-V is a great value. It's faster than the E60 M5, but not quite as refined. 2nd gen model, anyway. First one had it's issues. 2nd gen CTS-V is a monster. I can't wait for the F10 M5 to come out..~600bhp twin-turbo V8, extensive CF/Aluminium, possibly KERS as well. It will take back it`s rightful place as king of the super sedans.
