That's what I've been saying. Wheels bust up, they aren't invinceable. ROTA just gets the bad press for some reason..

I think it might have something to do with availability and popularity because of their cost.....kinda like N1 Oil Pumps ?Originally posted by Muss View PostThat's what I've been saying. Wheels bust up, they aren't invinceable. ROTA just gets the bad press for some reason..
N1 Oil Pumps are cheap, as are Rota wheels. Many people have them ? Many people break them ?
Sound plausible ?

I had some Hanbai DT05R

And man were they ever fuckin strong. When i got rear ended in my gtst, i was pushed into the curb at probably about 50, at a very weird angle too. and all that happened was a little chunk came out of the wheel. i bet most wheels would have just gotten destroyed. rotas probably from what i've heard. the thing still held air after to.. it was unbelievable. they are great wheels.

I'd say plausible. I think the issue may also come from their obviously copied designs. Too many purists.Originally posted by JD74 View PostI think it might have something to do with availability and popularity because of their cost.....kinda like N1 Oil Pumps ?

It was myself that posted on the UK GTR owners club thread ( I own Rota wheels UK )
The sole reason Rota get such a bad rap is due to the fact that the wheels are very very similar to certain other rims.
I myself personally believe Rota should make more original wheels, and as such have pursuaded Rota to make this:
Edited as I cant post links until I have made 15 posts d'oh!!
Ok it uses similar spoke design to the P45F, but theres not a wheel out there that this is a 'copy' of.
With regard to the quality of the rims, I personally have imported and sold in the UK and Europe well over 100,000 Rota rims, and have yet to have a wheel fail without an impact.
We have a few wheels back each year with laquer problems (to be expected in the UK with the ammount of salt on the road), but apart from that, nothing untoward.
As I said, people get the hump because they are so close to other wheels in looks, they find a picture of a failed Rota wheel, and next thing its 'look how bad Rota's are'
Considering how popular Rota's are, even if the broken wheels had failed for 'no apparant reason' the success rate would be very good. I know my fellow Rota dealers in the states sell a lot more wheels than I do myself.
For your interest, heres a few wheel pictures I have collected from browsing on the interweb. - again cant post links I apoligise
Pretty well all UK driftcars are running Rota wheels, including Driftworks R32 Skyline (600 odd bhp) , Japspeed, Team Green etc etc.
I have not had a complaint from any of these guys, and despite what the haters on the internet may say, I can assure you none of these drivers obtain wheels for nothing, they pay to use Rota wheels on their cars.
Not on here to promote (wont do me any good, im in the UK
) but just want to enlighten people into the truth behind Rota wheels.
To be honest I do take it a little personally, as if Rota wheels were crap, then I would be risking peoples lives by selling them, which would not sit well with me.
I do tend to take it as a personal insult when Rota are slated for no reason, but in my position im sure you would all do the same.
I have no ties to Rota, in that I can buy and sell anything I want (not factory owned) but the simple fact is Rota wheels are a quality product, at a good price.
When they come up with some more original designs, there really wont be anything to moan about

I had to laugh at thisOriginally posted by falcon View PostSome thing people don't understand IS... these teams get paid A LOT to run these wheels. And have an endless supply of them. So why not? If someone PAID me money to run them I sure as hell would. Money in my pocket.
Also did you ever care to think they aren't getting "quite exaclty" the same wheel you or I would? I don't know this but it wouldn't be too far of a stretch to think they might have some better quality/designed and stronger wheels since they are in the limelight all the time?
I can assure you, and prove that the money changing hands was from Team Falken to myself, NOT the other way round. - I still have the invoices on my system.
All the UK drifters that use Rota, PAY to use Rota wheels.
I have NEVER even given a set of wheels to a team to compete on, let alone paid them money
The day I have to pay money for a team to use Rota wheels, is the day I go out there and compete myself
I can also assure you that they used wheels straight off the shelf.
Answer this
Rota are JWL and VIA approved
The only way they could possibly be weak, was if this was faked.
Do you think that JWL and VIA would let someone sell millions of wheels (its gotta be millions in total) with faked markings

Awesome, I'm happy you posted to clear things up. As I've been trying to say, purists have a hard time accepting the new kid on the block. I would use ROTA wheels and not think twice about quality.
They pass the same tests, they aren't going to be of lesser quality. Also, as I've said before as well, many professionals use them and with results. The fact that they aren't even supplied the wheels for free points to the quality of ROTA.
Facts are always better than rumors, well done at setting the record straight.Team Limit - "Wide Fuckin' Open"

If I could post links, I could show you some really interesting stuff (R35 GTR running Rota wheels on full slicks on track - this one is really interesting, as it includes xrays of the wheels - the guy running them is a proper motorsport enthusiast - he did this entirely off his own back!)
I also have plenty of pictures of broken 'high end' wheels to add a bit of balance to the debate
