Was there in 2008 to see my cousin Lisa Klassen drive her EVO 8 up the mountain. I was standing at the first of the double hairpins called "Devil's Playground", roughly 13,700ft. It was amazing and it's too bad her coach bailed on her and took the cars with him before the 2009 run

The videos are impressive, but I remember the very first car of the day (after the pace car) a Ford Escort Cosworth came around the sweeping left hander before Devil's playground and was so close to the edge he clipped the hay bail and nearly lost it.

About the altitude thing as well, the cars loose about 30% power by the time they get to the summit, and it's about equal the amount of downforce they loose hence the big wings and aero kits. And I'm of fairly average fitness but after taking 10 steps up there you find yourself trying to catch your breath and getting light headed
