Hit and Run Griping

So around thanksgiving i was driving my gtr late one night and some drunk idiot blows a red light in the parking/bus lane and hits my front end, luckily i have the reflexes of a cat haha and hit the brakes hard enough to avoid being hit on the drivers side door and killed, but it did screw up my front bumper.

He like most drunken idiots took off immediatly after realizing what happened, me in shock and not wanting to flee the scene of an accident *dumb stayed and collected witness information. I had the plate but it was an out of province plate. so cops come blah blah blah they do theyre **** then i go home and try to deal with insurance company. theyve been screwing with me from then until now.

I now find out today the man was caught and charged and let off becasue the cops nor insruance company never asked me to stand trial so now im left with my injuries, and my deductible plus paying for the parts my insruance wont pay for becuase it has to come from japan.

and they let this man off for a fee of like hundred bucks.

Just felt like griping, anyone have any ideas of what i can do?

Civil suit is probably an option, but only viable if you don't care about the money and you just want to teach the guy a lesson.

Consider that if you'd grabbed him by the collar and held him (against his will) until the police arrived you'd probably be facing assault charges right now.

Anyways, hope the car part there works out for ya. I've never been the victim of a hit and ru n but I'm sure that if I was I would have some boiling blood

I honestly would be happy with my damages being paid for and small compensation for missing work etc.

And falcon yes injuries, not major but i did suffer minor neck injuries and chest as well there was a large steering wheel impression lol.

obviously not major and as gtr dad said i just want the car fixed thats all thats on my mind lol

I can't understand how your insurance company wont pay.

They should have a police record of the incident that states the guy clearly hit you and ran off.

Well he could sue for pecuniary and non-pecuniary damages sustained from the accident... I'm sure with the witness statements gathered, he'd win, and he might get a decent paycheque from it as well.
