i made this exact post 3 years ago lol, got absolutely pooped on.
regardless, if youre looking for a truck...its not so much whats good, but what you can afford. I was planning on saving up long and hard for a Skyline, but knew it would take a few years. Since I only had a few k, i knew i needed something now. I came across a '90 Accord with 114xxx kms on it for $800, and it was one of the best decisions ive made.
If youre able to find something that runs, give it a shot. Just make sure its common enough that parts are readily available and relatively cheap. Thats why everyone here is suggesting civics and accords.Victory is on the horizon..

yea maybe my anti-civic thing is a bad idea after all but the prob is ppl in manitoba tend to price car WAY to high!! like for example a 1992 civic 200k on the clock for 5k interier was crap!! engine needed alota work thro the whole car!!! and it was 5k! lol cheap cars that run are hard to come by out here but maybe im lookin in the wrong places... :S1990 Mazda Manyata (Turbo Miata 6psi 175whp 172wtq)
1991 Nissan Skyline GTR (13.5psi estimate of 320whp)

kijiji can be your friend. for you you may have to drive a bit but northern ontario, mb and sask should have something doable. civic guys price their cars way too high because of all the hardcore rice that has gone into it, they dont think "sell for what the cars worth" but "sell for what ive put into it, and how jdm tyte it is." thats why they never sell. stock accords are by far the dopest cars out theere
a co-worker just picked up a '91 accord 2dr 5spd with 170k for 1200. They arent the nicest to look at, but run foreverrrrrrrr

GTR=lots of maintenance and you need deep pockets, the rb26 isnt the most reliable engine out thereOriginally posted by JosiahP View Posthaha yea man!! lookin for a car that like not alota ppl have!! like an ae86, gtr, supra, rx7, cars that not alot ppl have! haha
No clue about the ae86
Supra, you talking mkiv or mkiii? The 2jz's are damn near bullet proof in the mkiv's but you would only be able to afford a 5spd N/A rhd supra. The 1jz and 7m in the mkiii should be really reliable too...
rx7=more maintenance and deeper pockets than the gtr... STAY AWAY unless you have a backup car or its a weekend car, and I dont think anyone in MB works on them.BNR32- Sold

AE86 is a great beginner's car. Fairly reliable, fun to drive, versatile, even somewhat practical. My friend has 2 of them now..only thing that stopped me from getting one 3 years ago was that they look like crap..IMO.Originally posted by JosiahP View Posthaha yea man!! lookin for a car that like not alota ppl have!! like an ae86, gtr, supra, rx7, cars that not alot ppl have! haha
GT-R is not a good first car. Pretty sure more than a few people on here will tell you that it's a money pit. GTS is a better first car for sure.
Supras..MK III's can be clean. Better choice than an S-chassis, at least. MK IV's sound like they're still out of your range. Maybe an N/A MK IV.
As far as RX-7's go, an FC makes a better first car than an FD..which is a less forgiving car.
Also consider the cost of insurance, maintenance, and fuel. If you have to take out a loan and really stretch out your budget for a car, that probably isn't the right car for you. With cars like these, it's best to leave at least 4 grand for unexpected expenses. And trust me, there will be unexpected expenses.03 Infiniti G35 Coupe 5AT "Valerie"

For his price range he can get a MKIV 5spd n/a. Slow(er) and heavy, but still a great car.Originally posted by QuietChaos View PostAE86 is a great beginner's car. The only thing stopping me from buying one is the goddamed intial D drift tax. Before all the Ricey McRicington's out there starting turning 16, you could buy them for nothing. Now a rusted out POS is like $4,000. lolonly thing that stopped me from getting one 3 years ago was that they look like crap..IMO.
