The Endless rotor in link above still has small slots down middle of rotor, so would assume it's more street spec than racetrack spec.

I was looking at getting 2 piece ProjectMU rotors, ProjectMU brakepads with stock calipers for my car. But the cost put me off them. Stuck with Brembo replacement rotors that were way cheaper and do the job on street and Mintye brake pads.

I know one of the quickest track spec R32 GTS-T's in Japan runs what looks like Project MU brakes, as can see the green colour of rotors inside the wheels -

Video in link below gives you an idea of how good the Project MU brakes are on that R32 GTS-T that runs a 1:01 around Tsukuba while there's traffic on racetrack -

jonsibal.com features Jon Sibal's digital automotive art renderings.

      Good brake rotors have -

Big slots down middle of rotor
      Slotted face of rotor
      Heat treated rotor (reduces? wear)
      2 piece design

      Also brake ducting.

Hmmm, so which Brembo rotor did you go with, and did you also pick up their Brake Pads? Also, how much did you end up spending on your brake kit?

Wow, that Skyline was FAST! Was it using ProjectMu's SCR-Pro rotor??

Actually, this just reminded me of another question I had before: how many pistons calipers should one purchase for their car? I know it's a dumb question, because it all depends on the tuning of the car, and the weight of the car, etc. I was just curious, though, because I'm assuming a street-tuned car that is occasionally taken to the track shouldn't need something more than 6 pots on their caliper, correct? Anything else is for hardcore competitive racing, right?

But on my car it's a street setup. Around $200 downunder for 2x sets of Mintye brakepads front of car, 2x Brembo replacement rotors on front of car. I run the same brake fluid with 600+ boiling point that the people I buy the brake fluid from, use on their GTR racecar. Also have a aftermarket Qualitee brand brake master cylinder which might have helped with the braking. Can get Qualitee brand from Summit.

Although I gather I need to do the rear brakes, but stock brake pads, rotors do the job.

          Looks like ProjectMu's SCR-Pro rotors.

More brake pad surface with bigger calipers. Also I think are forged 1x piece, so can be lighter.

You only spent $200 on your street brake setup?! that is very cheap, considering all the price tags I have been seeing for some of these aftermarket brake parts!

Right now my biggest issue is knowing how to mix and match parts together to make it work. I do not know what works with what, and it is an issue when it comes to knowing what parts to buy.

It surprised me how cheap they were. But impressed with the result, as it saved my car in an emergency stop. So happy.

Minimum you only need a front brake pad upgrade, good brake fluid for road use. But ideally braided brake lines (gets rid of spongy brake pedal feel and protects brake lines from rocks that from experience can cut brake hoses), brake master cylinder stopper (stops brake master cylinder moving under hard braking), upgraded brakepads (high temp brake pads for trackuse, low temp brake pads for road use), remove stone shields, fit brake ducting on all 4 corners is what you want for road or trackday car.

2 piece brake rotors, good track / road brakepad (look at temp range of brake pads) are good additional items if needed for extra braking. But one thing you have to take into account, will it overpower your tyres. Are you running street tyres (stock brakes with upgraded brakepads, brakelines, etc), semislicks or full race slicks. Big brake kits, slicks go together. Upgraded factory brakes with 2 piece rotors, brakepads, braidedlines, etc + semislicks go together. So easily upgradeable to bigger and better if you need it.

A brake specialist can custom make brake pads with custom made backing plate and compound of your choice.

Stock brakes on R32GTR are nearly as good as a big brake kit on a Group-A R32 GTR with slick tyres (slick tyres, big brakes are cold on racecar, so not working at 100%) -

When braking from high speed lap after lap with slicks, that's where a big brake kit comes into it's own with a heavier car, as there's no or little brake fade. Carbon brakes are best in this area and why they are popular on F1 racecars, etc.

You can't say 100% better benefit unless the setup you say is better in every way, which it isn't. Like I said, if you're on a budget or have other parts to upgrade, forget big brakes. It's mostly "gravy" on a street car. It's not worse than Smaller brake kits.

SatoTatsuya, you said your looking for a kit for a 240sx right. In this case it's
going to be quite easy for you, since your car is a lot lighter than an R32.

                        Just do like I did.

Use a complete 300zx brake caliper swap, brembo rotors, good quality pads,
steel braided lines, and good quality 600 degree braking fluid. Depending on
your suspension and tire choice, your probably going to have to play with
the front rear bias. With decent 235/45zr17 front and 255/40zr17 tire back,
and stiff coilovers, my setup seam pretty balance. With stock tire a lot of
people doing this swap notice that they can lock the rear tire a little bit
                        before the front.

You should be able to do this swap for a fraction of any big brake kit.
And in a jam you can get parts almost anywhere. And should be more
than enough for all your tracking needs.

And like it's been said before, if you can, had ducting to cool your brake.

There are a lot of good brake companies out there, i don't understand how you can make a short list and just call it a day with not info or proof to back it up.

Get Used R33 GTR Brembo brake kit, huge upgrade. 296mm rotor is quite decent.

I will be upgrading pads, rotors, brake lines, and fluid soon and it should be killer for my R33 GTR

on an 18 inch wheel they are quite big brakes

No kidding, even Rotora and wilwood are top notch now a days. They're just not Japanese I guess.

largely upgraded brakes will either make a night and day difference on your track car, or be a waste of your cash on a street car.
