  • Need a friend to help me with some work

I am moving to a new residence at the end of this month. The new place that I am going to is refusing to allow me to park my car in the apartment complex UNLESS the car is complete and has plates. While I have taken care of the plates, the car is not yet done - it needs to have the tranny and turbos put in. I am unable to pay a shop to work on it due to a lack of finances. Therefore, I have been at it all on my own. But having only a pair of hands, it is hard for me to do it all by myself and need a friendly hand from one of my fellow cohorts in the victimless crime of owning a Skyline.

I am asking if there is anyone who would be wiling to help me out with the tranny in the next few days. I promise food, drinks and transport. So.....anyone able and willing to lend me a hand? The car is parked in the open, BTW.

    Thanks.

That sucks. I hate stratas. Will they really know if it dosen't have a transmission though? If the hood is closed and it's just parked no one will be the wiser.

But I can understand you want the car running so you can drive it.

More than likely, they wont know because it is not visible unless you look under the body. But I am thinking about the time when it is parked there and I have to put the tranny in (if I dont do it now). How will I do it then? They wont allow me to work on the car while on the property. Plus, by not having the car ready before I move, I will have to get it towed to the complex, which in itself will give away that the caris not running.

      Dilemmas, dilemmas, lol...

        Hey Man,
Iam in the mississauga area and can help. Where are you located? I work late, get off around 6ish sometimes so it will have to be after that but I can help also on weekend. I must say that I have worked on my own skyline a lot of times but nothing serious, only bolt on parts and standard maintenance, so I wont know too much about how to put on turbos and such. If your willing to guide, I am more then happy to help!

I can possibly help out as well depending on where and when. Post the nearest major intersection so we know where.

I just got my Skyline so I havent had to wrench on it yet but I have done some work on other cars before, regardless I can lend a helping hand.

I am at 30 Columbus Ave, which is off of Dundas West. Closes major intersection is Bloor & Dundas W, 1.5 km south of Bloor West. The car is parked on gravel and is on jackstands right now.

Glad to see people helping out. I would but I'm a little far! Not that I know how to put a tranny back in anyways hahaha.

I wish I could say that I have helped but due to a last minute emergency at work I didnt get home until 8:30 on friday night. It doesnt look like I will be available at all this week either. Anyone able to help Munib out?

Carter, yes, I got the lights last week. thanks a gazillion, brother. All I need now is the bulbs and sockets to go into them.

As regards the help....well last weekend was the only time I could have done work on my car. Now I am working all week and moving the coming weekend. Work will have to wait until I find a parking space for my car, because my new landlord/property management company has refused to let me park it as it is - they say that if the interior of the car contains parts (I have to put the tranny and driveshaft, etc., in there because I couldnt get it installed), they wont allow it to be parked.

So I am kind of screwed.....oh well. Let's see if someone knows of a cheap parking space that is secure and wont mind having an unfinished car parked there for the next few months.

Thank you all for offering to help. I know when the time comes, I will not be alone.
