I watched it.

Ive watches enough uk TG that I could catch some close similarities in a few of the hosts lines when they were driving the lambs. Was OK at best for me.

It was everything I expected it to be. I didn't particularly enjoy it, but I will watch it and I really hope it gets a second season to grow. I did have a thought though, Top Gear UK is one of the most popular shows in the world (350+ million viewers) so their funding must be huge. How will a new, cable only, and male focused show seem profitable if they try to mimic the big budget UK version. I fear it will be canceled for that reason...

In a word, yes. Very dramatic, at times cheesy. Featured car was the Viper, of course.

The UK TG fan base was tearing the show to shreds last night, but it was more or less what I expected.

They did okay for a show on a limited budget.

My main complaints:

-Lack of video stabilization for in-car footage.
-The writers for the show need to get the boot. Now.
-Dialogue/laughter seems very forced.

What sets BBC's TG apart from every other car show is the chemistry between the hosts. This did not exist for TG USA.
At the end of the day, it was enjoyable as a show about cars - nothing more.

Obviously, TG UK set the bar very high, and too many people were expecting a clone of that series.
