Well I hope if you have a strong stomach, this will have some sort of effect on you about texting and driving. not trying to play mom or dad, but seeing as I used to do it a lot and had some close calls, it couldnt hurt.

Same could be said for any distractions inside the car, even trying to tune the radio and looking down at that is just as bad as texting in a sense.

Only time I'll reply to a text is at a red light. Even then, few and far between. Generally my phone goes in its case on my visor and stays there til I get where I'm going

your right, for example a friend of my girlfriend wrapped her moms car around a pole last week because she was "turning" and went to adjust the heat at the same time and lost control...sounds like bulshit to me, but in my opinion it's not the gadgets in the car, it's the person behind the wheel. Everyone knows your not supposed to take your eyes off the road when your turning...why would you want to? I personally think the problem is lack of education, if someone can get into a car accident like that, how did she pass her drivers test in the first place? Makes me question the integrety of the driving education system.

Ontario drivers licensing is a joke. answer a 10 quesion multiple choice test and have free reign on public roads. my personal opinion is that we need something that teaches.

from what Ive been told by the guys at my BMW dealer who visit often, Germany's licensing program takes I believe 5 years, and costs a few thousand dollars in training.

Thats exactly what i was implying, is that there is none! it's redic, the test here is 30 questions, 20 mc and 10 identify the signs. and you have your beginers. My drivers ed was the most pointless waste of time. he was an ex cop and talked about "how would your family feel if you were in an accident" there was no teaching involved!

Like Oakville said we need something that teaches...possibly a defensive driving driving course before you can even book your road test
