    I forgot to mention... Shipping would be under $1k est. (specialty company I used to ship my Gixxer from Kelowna) and I'll work something pricewise for you 'cause you're a GTRC member
    Will ALSO include a full set of brand new, never been on a bike 2 pc leathers and armour if they'll fit you.

      I would see about getting body armour. Sure frame sliders will protect your bike, but I rather have something than a jacket to protect me.

          I started out on a 1999 CBR 600F4 and I loved it. It is a carbed bike which was good because it wasn't that quick untill you get up past 8k rpm. I haven't had any training yet nor do i have my license. All it took was smart riding and respect. I do plan on taking the course this year as I plan on buying an 05+ CBR 600RR.

          btw when i payed for basic insurance it was $350 for the whole year. this was only 2 years ago so i don't know why rates are stupid high.

            Hey, my suggestion is the same as "fast316" 's. start out on a 5 or 6 year old sport bike because i garuntee you that you will get sick of riding that boring 250r within a few days. A female friend of mine bought a 2010 250r ninja this past summer of 2010. she is already sick of how boring the bike is. sure the sport bikes are heavier, more powerful, more aggressive, less forgiving but when you ride a sport bike you are scared of it and you will respect it and ride very carefully until you get experienced and you will not have to upgrade so quickly. back in 2004 my first bike was a 01 suzuki gsx-r 600 and i was scared shitless to take it to its limit. i treated that bike with so much respect because i wanted it to treat me the same way. so as long as your careful you shouldnt have any problems starting of on a sport bike. ive been on a lot of very powerfull bikes (hayabusa, lots of liter bikes, zx14, ducatti's) but i keep coming back to the 600's because they are just so much fun. i wish you luck and long life of riding on 2 wheels no matter what you get. just remember a bike is so much more personal then driving a car and no matter what it is you will have lots and lots of great experiences and stories. welcome.

            btw this is what i have now... 2009 Suzuki GSX-R 600

              Thanks man. I'm seriously considering the SV650 now. I really like the way it looks with the proper streetfighter treatment. Still have lots of time to figure it all out before spring hits.

              Nice GSXR, but the MKIV in your avatar is sick.

              mmm..streetfighters.

                  I got my bike 2 years ago.. I never had a road going bike before.. had just ridding junker dirt bikes..

                  I thought about getting a starter bike, but decided against it cause im 2 tall, and the small bikes are.. well just small..

                  I bought my 1050 Tiger

                  and never looked back, its the only bike i found that will fit me, and is still sports bike feeling.. and i dont see any reason why i would sell it..

                  I bought it with my beginers, and it took a couple months for me to feel like i could handle, and now i love it.. but im still learning..

                      Yeeee!

                      my CRF450;

                      Sold my CBR600 ... Guess what for?? Oh ya my other money pit..
                      Matte black, pearl white.. ughh miss this bike..

                      Now i ride this, thanks to Quebec registration (1500$ for sportbikes, 600$ for naked street bikes);

                      It's got Sato rearsets, Renthal MX bars, bar end mirror conversion, Yoshimura pipes, K&N intake, Power commander etc..

                      Way too many mods for the other 2 bikes.. My CBR was another track build, light and 125 whp.. was absolutely insane on the street/track.. Need to buy another track bike..

                      Still ride/race my CRF though.. We have a few private tracks throughout QC so if anyones down for a little ride, hit me up
                      And yes, that's actually my name and number on those plates, and those ARE my sponsors, so no, i'm not a total poser :P

                        Come by a Ducati 1198S from me, and I will teach you to ride in the parking lot. Should only take 10 mins or so.

                          Oh, and if were being for serious... don't buy a 250R. I've had way to many customers come back after a month wanting to trade it in on something larger. But don't go too big. SV650, Ninja 500 or Suzuki GS500 are all good bike and can all be lowered.

                          I would also take a look into the newer Yamaha FZ6R. Great learner bike.

                            Thanks Falcon. Reviews for the FZ6R look really good. Looks more promising than the 650R. Do you work at Vancouver BMW Ducati?

                              And I used to work at Pacific Yamaha. Tis where I got familiar with the FZ6R. It's a great selling bike and you can find 09's used for around 6K. Yamaha reliability and it is a really easy bike to ride.

                              I WOULD tell you to come by a Monster 696, also a good first bike but I imagine that is out of your price range? 10Kish..

                                A 696 would be fun, but I'd probably have to sell both my cars, and I'd to keep one for winter. Eventually I'll move up there. But if I were to buy a Ducati sometime in the distant future, I'd like a fully-faired sportbike. I'm looking forward to seeing all the new bikes at the Tradex on the 20th.
