  • What is the best tuner magazine out there?

Before we turn this into a hate thread please hear me out

I'm looking for a good magazine that I can subscribe to that actually includes some DIY information from time to time and provides a decent break down of featured cars. I'm all for good looking girls across the cover but I think there are other magazines out there for that haha.

I would prefer a magazine who doesn't always focus on Civics because to be honest, I could pretty much care less about the V-Tec down the street from me.

Anything out there like this? Perhaps with a preference to Skylines or Nissans in general. I also don't want a magazine only for audio/video, I want go...not so much show.

Finally, please don't tell me to 'use the search button' without actually giving some useful information. I have searched and so far I haven't found anything that satisfies...

    Thanks

Wow good find. I don't suppose it's available in English though. I suppose I should also clarify that I want to subscribe to a monthly magazine, should one be available.

      ...I know, I'm picky

"High performance imports" is my favorite. It's a few hundred a year unlike the "civic" mags though.

The only thing that sucks is that the mook(magazine book.... lol) only comes out four times a year.

I personally like reading Super Street. Import Tuner is alright but i find Super Street goes into much more detail and has more information to offer.

The last issue i got of it had the Mspeed r34 gtr on the cover and a 5 page article on it....but i haven't collected enough of them to know if they have a bias to nissan or not.

Yes, but Import Tuner is 100% supra's Evos and GTRs

High Performance Imports (good technical info), Zoom (good technical info), Fast Fours, Motormag, Hot4's, Performance Car (NZ), NZ Autocar, Car, Speed, Uniquecars. I'm missing the classic car magazines and there's a few of them. Also a US magazine with good technical info (similar to High performance Imports, Zoom magazines) for imports (forget the name).

I like Dsport, they have the older 32 in there once and a while. Seem to have more focus on girls some times but comes with a free dvd usually take has extra tune stuff etc.
Traction is optional, so are zipties

Right now in North America there isn't much choice for Import mags. The ones that do exist are struggling and have to do things to appease the masses (read: a lot of bikinis and lifestyle coverage and very little in terms of true, unbiased (ie. not reviewing sponsor products) technical info. Of the ones left I like Dsport the most, simply because of the free dvd and the fact the owner has an ongoing GTR RH9 project car. If you want a lot of GTR coverage, High Performance Imports can't be beat. JDM mags, unless you read Japanese, is out of the question. I buy them occasionally for the pics and thats all. SCC was great, 0-60 was awesome, but both are dead. I pick up Grassroots Motorsports and Hemmings Sports and Exotics for fun these days and R&T for new car coverage. IMHO Mags as a print media will disappear in a few years. Personally I'd prefer if they can make an electronic version I can just DL automatically on my Kindle like my daily newspaper.

high performance imports out of australia. They feature the cars GTRC'ers tend to drive, so it's a great bathroom read. I used to read Dsport but I can't find them anywhere anymore.
