NZ hit again by 6.3 earthquake -

First one in September last year was a 7.1 earthquake. This time they say there's people trapped, some have died due to people at work, etc. Ouch.

There was a Canadian backpacker there, but she's ok. Building next to hers collapsed.

Said to be 10km from city and 5km deep at 12:51.

there have been a ton of weird earthquakes the past lil bit.

Been over 700 the past lil bit in Arkansas and even mt st helens is rumbling again.

Listening to this show a bit ago and seems a lot happen on full moons :S

New Zealand gets the big ones tho. Last years moved the southern tip of the island.

One modern building with 4 floors collapsed with what is said to be 200 people inside. Up to 15+ people were out side at lunch. Run out of ambulances, so using cars to take people to hospital.

Not sure if 200 were there, as was lunch time. One survivor said they and 5 others only had 1.5 metre space when it collapsed.

The one in September was 40+km below the surface. This one was only 5km below surface, so ground moved more.

They said that 65 people are dead (confirmed) and rising.

anyone heard from our friends down there about it yet? These small isolated places that get struck with events like this is always more terrible than it would be on a mainland connected country, they're saying its the worst quake in a very long time, I hope theres no after shock or tsunami risk, has anybody heard about that either?

Phone system got overloaded, power to 80% of city went down.

They had some big after shocks as well.

Just the plates moving. Must have been the top of the plates finally moving since the 7.1 was 40km+ deep.

Had sand, water rising from cracks? in the streets.
