So Visions electronics here in Winnipeg was having a major "below cost" sale for the last 2 days, and i've been looking for a bass set up to provide me with a bit of sound and not take up too much space as my battery is in my trunk as well.

I went in, was strait up with him, told him what I was looking for and that I was only looking to spend around $180. What was smart (i think) was that i said it would be sweet if he could hook me up with something, but if he couldn't it wasn't a big deal...i didn't go in their desperate for the best deals.

Guy was super chill started looking around, and hooked me up with the following:

1x JL 2 channel, 360 watt amp - Reg $280 retail...gave it to me for $112
1x 10" Sony Xplod 330rms, 1200 peak - Reg $113...on sale for $37
1x 10" Q logic box - Reg $80...gave it to me for $51
And my car is already wired for a sub

So what would have cost me over 500 tax in, he gave me for 224 tax in

Visions has these sales on a weekly basis I only know this because my brother in-law manages a visions branch in regina. They have 3 outlets. The mark up (FYI) is retarded on electronics. I just picked up 2 onkyo surround systems yesterday on a "manufacturer clearance blowout" One is 7.1 and one is 5.1 ( for the garage ) my total with a 2 meter HDMI cable was less then $500. It's a joke .

I had sony xplodes and they hit hard. They hit as hard as my kickers. They just weren't as strong as my kickers.

If all he wants is to add a little bass to his system. He got a good deal.

If wants to bounce around town like hes back in highschool, yeah, maybe they will blow.

upgrading to a type s or even a kicker ctv-s isnt that much in a price difference and is a way better sub

holy f man ya make sure to reinforce your windows and blot everything down but a w7 would deff be nice

yeah, i'm not looking for crazy amounts of bass, i've had alpines in the back before and yes they sounded good. but it's too much for me.

I loved the sound of the stock sub in my lancer ralliart, it was a small 8" infinity with a mono amp, and it provided the perfect amount of bass, it allows you to listen to the music loud, here the lyrics and hear your car at the same time.

The only reason i bought this sub is cause it was 37 bones thats penny's for a sub, and im going to run it relatively low...it's matched up with a solid amp, and the 10 takes up alot less room than most subs!

you can turn the gain down so its not so bassy and invest in a good set of speakers to even out the balance

I wont comment on the quality of the stuff..

however your prices are all below Ebay/Used prices.. for those products.. so i would say you got a WIN deal..

Thank you Sir! haha thats the kind of comments I was looking for, Sony Xplods may not be the best type of sub out there, im aware of that. But i was looking for something small, and inexpensive. The cheapest you can get an alpine type E right now is 90 before tax, and i've had a 12" type E before, i loved it's sound but thats not what im looking for now. plus it would have brought the cost of everything closer to 300 which i wasn't looking to spend.

The most important things are that I got my equipment at a great price, it's going to take up minimal space like i wanted, and everything will be powered/ running properly. The wattage of the sub and amp are a perfect match, and I'll be using the proper guage of power wire.

And Falcon, I couldn't agree with you more, I did not want to put a sub in, but i can't stand listening to all treble and no low end. so subtle and small it is.

Update!

Took the Xplod back and picked up a 10" Type S on sale, much happier now and i know i'll like the sound coming from the alpine.

Sweet income tax return this year and had a couple extra bucks so i figured i would get a better safer sub!

Man there's nothing wrong with a nice little 10' sub in the back screwed solid. Even with good speakers running off an amp its still a way better sound quality with my sub! so worth it if ur not tracking or anything!

I'm doubtful on a sub. I love listening to old rock like acdc and people like kid rock.... I don't need the bass at all to enjoy any of that music. But then again when I throw in some eminem the bass is not there where it needs to be. I just can see anyone putting a sub in a skyline. Who all here runs sound systems?
