  • To part or not to part?

Well as some of you may have noticed my car is for sale. Although it would take time and be very painful to do. I am seriously considering parting it out. Refer to the for sale ad on the entire car here-

I wouldn't actually consider starting till at least November 1st. In New Brunswick we have seasonal registrations which means my car can legally only be on the road from April 1st to October 31st. So at the end of this month it would be going into storage in my garage and wouldn't see the light of day till April. So I figure I can sit on it and continue to loose money as the price of R33 GTRs goes down over the next 6 months and then go through the hassle of trying to sell again in spring or I could take the next 6 months to part it COMPLETELY out. I know its far from ideal to part out a fully functional piece of history but the shitty part is that the car appears to be worth more in parts then as a whole...Even if I did get my full asking price. So I figure I could start parting, and probably have the majority of it sold by spring and possibly make over 20k or hang onto it, have to pay insurance while it sits collecting dust and risk they are still going to be worth the same by spring. So my question is what would you do? To prove my point I made a list, now these prices aren't set in stone. Some may be too high but I feel most of it is very well priced if not priced too low.

What I need out of you guys is the following
1-your advice what would you do? am I crazy?
2-evaluation of my pricing, anything priced too high or honestly do you think I've priced anything too low?
3-Would you be interested in parts if I was to start parting and if so what parts?
4-anything I'm forgetting on my list that you think has substantial enough value to note.

Ditch that list, delete this thread, and give yourself a smack for me.

I literally just finished reading your for sale thread, hands down one of the nicest midnight purple R33 GTR's I've seen. (RightDrive has a nice one too)

The car is worth every penny of your asking price. With patience, it will sell to someone who appreciates it for what it is, just like you did in your time of owning it.

If I were you I would reconsider even selling. Such a nice car!

For the love of Skylines, please get rid of this part out thread.

    Best of luck to you!

i don't see why you can't get $18500 for your car. It's just winter and sport cars sell are usually slow. Just wait it out unless you really need the cash. I don't think the price of R33 will drop too much since they are pretty rare.

But if you are serious on parting, i would be interested in your coilover.

          Sounds good!

I have to ask about those coilovers though...$5200 brand new? :/

How's the suspension for a daily driver?

Good price on your car. You should be able to get it. If you do part, only part with your aftermarket or spare parts and keep the car more oem. You can bring your asking price down and typically make a few extra bucks in the end.

This is what I would do.
I coudlnt get asking for my auto TT Supra so I started picking some of the nice bits off of it and bringing it closer and closer to stock. Each time lowering the price a touch. I ended up selling the car closer to stock where it was more affordable and sold most of my aftermarket parts to make up the difference and then some.

Your car might be a tough sell our East (I presume the market is smaller) but give it some more time.

If you would have had this for sale four months ago I would have bought it in a heartbeat, who ever buy's that is getting an awesome deal!

I agree with Matty on this, sell off your aftermarket stuff for now, someone will surely pick up the car in the spring.

If you do part it out, which I would hate to see, I would be interested in buying a few things. Your Xenon headlights and Nismo cluster for sure and maybe a few other things.

Thanks for the comments guys, I don't have much for stock parts except for a few body parts. That would only lower the value by like $200 bucks, unfortunately I don't have stock suspension or wheels or anything that really has a valuable counterpart. It is a bit harder to sell in our market as most people here still have the mindset they can goto Quebec and pick them up for cheap.

The Ohlins coil overs are pretty rare and extremely nice pieces. They have the separate reservoir and are Fully adjustable in every aspect. I currently have them set to a fairly soft setting so they are no problem on the street at all.

Sorry cschepp not really looking for trades like that, gotta pay down some debt and buy a responsible car for now. Hopefully next summer I'll back on track and able to pick up something else.

Please don't part it out! That would be sacrilege to break up such a nice car! Be patient, it will sell!

I'll second that..also factor in the amount of time to remove the parts and ship them..the mods you have are great supporting mods and I'm sure you can find a buyer who appreciates that, especially for that price.

Thanks guys, I hope I don't have to honestly even if it means it makes me more money I would prefer not to. I did come up with a cheaper option for buyers though, maybe that will help. I edited the original for sale post with the following.

IF anyone wants to I can do 15.5k if you want the car as follows-

                            -No cd player
                            -No boost controller
                            -Stock wing blade
                            -Stock wing end caps
                            -Stock grill
                            -Stock headlights
-you would have to find your own wheels.

I can remove that stuff so you would never no it was there. Basically you'd just need to find some wheels and you'd have a sick car for 15.5k.

As said above, only part out the aftermarket stuff. You'll still get a good price for the car itself.
Also, some of you prices are too cheap on the aftermarket stuff, you can definitely get more. The market prices of the Ohlins, Nismo exhaust and OEM HIDs are a lot higher.
