Haha it's so true. I think they are like that because muscle cars were the big thing back then. And for the most part, the faster ones were louder. Same with any vehicle if you think about it, especially a turbo because you want your piping as big as possible to get the exhaust out as quick as possible. Pretty simple theory that's been used on most cars

Another thing is too, my car has a "modified exhaust system" and the 3" catback is JASMA approved and even with the straight piping from the turbo its still extremely quiet and under the legal limit. What's the problem with something like that? Would I get towed for my exhaust LOOKING too loud?

I can't see them enforcing this thing really, more like a deterent to keep people away.
