It absolutely disgusts me and is beyond me how people can take away the one thing that a person has put so much money, effort and pride into...this, as mentioned on the website, is every enthusiasts nightmare, because it truly is the scariest thought to have this happen to you. Better believe my car is being spoiled with security.

With that said, I personally don't deal with certified checks. It's cash only.

I hate to say it but, that's what you get for not going to the bank and not securing the funds before you turn the car over. I would never release a car I was selling untill the funds were assured. I didn't let my Chevelle get loaded onto a transport truck to Manitoba untill the money was in my account and guarenteed. I must admit, the buyer showed alot of trust to send me $28,000 without it being put into trust through a lawer.

Sometimes though that trust can screw you, like this time. I hope the guy in question gets his knees broken.

      Jon.
Why don't you come over to MySpace and Twitter my Yahoo untill I Google all over your Facebook.

Things like this really get me upset. What ever happened to working hard and buying your own s*^t?

My uncle collects classic cars, and he deals with these situations all time, especially from US buyers. They will send fake certified cheques hoping that my uncle will send the car before he realizes it. Pure trash. Hope they catch this guy.

Even if they do swap vins. Anyone "in the know" can check the engine and/or trans for vin #s.

Wow. If you ever accept a cheque from anyone, the first thing you do is go to the bank with said person before completing the transaction to verify its legitimacy. I feel bad for the guy and his kids, disney land ftmfw, but he didn't think that one through. Also hope that douchebag thief gets his salad tossed in prison for a decade or two.
