  • Tell me I'm not the only one who hates this..

Alright so i took the new gtr to get inspected, specifically told the mechanic I dont want anyone taking it for testdrives becuase of the triple plate clutch and 500hp at the wheels...Took a picture of the odometer just to make sure. Get the car back and the odo was 5 km higher than it was before. Then i find out that the mechanics nephew who is like 18 was the one that took it for a rip. God only knows how many times he stalled it. Maybe im just sour but i absoloutely CANT STAND ANYONE BUT MYSELF DRIVING MY CAR! I've only let 2 of my close friends drive my skylines in the past. It makes me kinda jealous... am i the only one?

Nope, I'm the same way. I don't mind if you ask, but to just take it? I'd be pissed

I'm the same. If its not my mechanic (for super technical stuff I can't figure out) or my buddy who owns a gtr, no ones touching it

Tech guy at a Nissan dealership gave me some butthurt ******** when I refused for him to drive the car in. He then started making cracks at how it probably wasn't making any power anyway (I was there to vent the AC before removing it)

If that was my mechanic I'd be so far up his ass with my shoe it wouldn't be funny. I hope you're not going there again.

i'm the same way, i spent too much time and effort in my car to have someone mess it up

just yesterday i went to a body shop just behind my house to get my sideskirt glued back on
they told me to didn't have time in the morning and asked if i could leave it there so they could work on it in the afternoon
i said no, i'll come back monday first thing 8am

but that said, i have absolutely no problem letting another skyline owner drive my car with my permission

yeah if its someone else who is used to driving these kinds of cars or someone i trust i dont have a problem. but when its some dipsh*t messing around in my pride and joy it drives me nuts. Took it to kaltire to get new rubber put on and i told them i should probably drive it in. I got the usual "nahh we can drive anything, all our cars are standard transmission...." So i watched the one kid stall it 4 times, he called his friend over and he stalled it twice, then i walked outside and said give me the damn keys ill drive it in myself hahaha

                  Same here

Brought my car in once to get an oil change. Was in a rush so...

The idiots sat there revving it in the bay trying to see if the pressure would rise... idiots. Pressure increases under load. Not while in neutral sitting still.... boy did I give it into them. Ended up getting so much free stuff. No one messes with my car.

After some lady hit me and had the rear quarter and bumper painted I got my car back with 18 additional km's on it
Was kinda pissed but thought about the days when I was a bellman at a 5 star resort and I drove the piss out of many Mercedes, bmw's and the odd super car. At the end of the day, I'm sure they didn't drive the car as hard as I did and just wanted to drive a rhd car. Whatever, I'm sure it made someone's life complete. It's just a machine made of metal, nuts and bolts. Who cares. I understand the concern but I'm sure the car has seen worse. I did jam a v12 Mercedes up an on ramp 4 stories high to the parking garage and catch air.... I don't mind a 20 year old trying to figure out my laggy top end beauty of a beast lol

                          Sorry to hear.

I have been there before and heard lots of stories. They are nicknamed "cowboys" of the car industry.

One thing you can do is get a valet mode put on car (I think is an option with Nistune), which rev limit's the engine. Or speed limit the car with Nistune (with portable tablet PC or similar), so no laws are broken.

Or buy a Snitch GPS setup with ignition on or off, etc. I was reading a story online about one tow yard that got caught out by this and their excuse was interesting.

                          Here's the story -

I am an auto tech, and yes I drive my customers cars. Mainly just a short trip around the shop to look for suspension or steering issues. I NEVER joyride!!! I treat my clients cars the way I expect mine to be treated. I have worked on Porsches, ferraris, limited edition BMW's, etc. Let me say the urge is there, but in my world respect for other peoples property comes first.

Feyd. I used to work for a high performance shop as well. And I was the same way. I have my own car to joyride in. Doing it to another persons car is unacceptable.
