Just dont ship until you've received your money. Best way to protect yourself.

Why would u be worried? Just document everything throughout the transaction and PayPal will cover you. Only using PayPal is a good thing only way to be protected

I agree with you, however there's always ways around a system. I've heard of many stories involving people getting scammed through PayPal.

With that said, I also agree with Dan, and you should just request payment prior to shipping the item(s).

As far as there being a way around the system that may be true but keep in mind with PayPal you are paying for a service (3.49%) which then puts the liability on the company performing that service being PayPal

*Seller sells item, then ships item off, shipped weight/dimensions are recorded

*Buyer receives item, takes item, then notifies paypal of a bad item/transaction proceeds to stuffs box with something of similar weight, shipped weight gets recorded and found to be on point in terms of weight of the originally shipped item

              >>> Paypal refunds money to buyer, buyer still has item, seller is out of item and he just paid paypal to be robbed (3.49% charge)

OP a User verification is a VERY wise decision

well after hours and day of researching how to avoid any nasty situation with paypal, ive worked up the courage to sell the item. Im pretty sure im completely protected, now just to make sure the shipping is all done to the "T"! Thanks guys, still no feedback for this particular user, but i think i'll take this chance.

as said i do feel a bit better after doing some good research!

                  for anyone thats interested

I got burned once on ebay. After i had paid for the item and waiting about two months for it to arrive i called paypal. It took a week or two but they did reimburse me. Id say your safe.

I've met James a few times in the past at some meets/cruises in Ottawa. Seemed like a good guy.

P.S. I also broke his horn button.
