Unfortunately forum members do not have the power to rescind a business's sponsorship.

Actually, it looks like Japan Domestic Motor's sponsorship of GTRC lapsed on February 1, 2012. For some reason this was overlooked, and their name was still present in the forum list. It has now been removed.

Best of luck in finding a satisfactory solution.

If anyone feels like saying anything to them, their phone number is 1 888 808 8813 website is http://japandomesticmotor.com/ and email address is sales@japandomesticmotor.com

I filled out the small claims paperwork and am going to figure out how to submit it tomorrow. Going to suck having to drive to montreal possibly several times to deal with this and it costing me two days every time but there's not much else that can be done. I need more comfortable seats in my DD, haha.

      Thanks for removing their forum.

Yes I made the mistake of buying from a Montreal importer, got ripped on a set of R34 wheels, Tokyo Motor Imports was the name of the company.

Good luck to you I hope you get this sorted out.

              hi,

Doesn't matter what they give you for warranty, if you sell anything in Canada, and you say it is in working order then it should be. It doesn't matter if it's a new product or an old product, when you buy a product, it has to respond to certain expectation, unless otherwise specified.

In Quebec they use to have a department that offered free help for consumer, but because of budget cut I believe it doesn't exist anymore, really a shame.

              Good luck

I would just bite the bullet and open up the tranny and see if it can be fixed, you can go after them in small claims for that too. In the end, with the huge distance between you and the vendor, you will most likely spending more than its worth. Once you start to add up every penny in out of pocket and lost income to go after them it can add up fast, and they know that.

You may get lucky and its only roller brgings falling apart, the clusters could be fine.
I guess you didn't look at the oil before you bought? They most likely wouldn't have let you anyway based their current BS behaviour.

I suggest everyone give them a call and get them to clarify their warranty policy.

                  Jon.

                      Jon.

I think that will be my plan at this point. I'm not sure I'm comfortable doing a DIY transmission rebuild, but I found a place that has V160 experience and says they can rebuild it for about $1700.

That blows. The first motor i bought (rebuilt) was 3500 shipped to my door. No surprise to me on the first start up i smoked out my entire neighbourhood with a blown hg. I ripped it all apart, had it decked and put back together only to have a local shop spin a bearing while doing an "e test". That was the last time i took my car to anyone but my number 1... Radek. Hell i dont even let mechanics touch my truck unless i absolutely cant do the work myself.
Dang! You got shocks, pegs... Lucky! You ever take it off any sweet jumps?

You would spend at least that getting your money back. So if you fixed it, you would have a tranny that you payed $1000 for if you actually got your money back, a big if. If you didn't fix it you might only end up with $1000 back after expenses. You may get lucky and the judge might award you expenses too. It's a shame you didn't record the phone calls. That would be a virtual slam dunk towards the "good faith" end of the transaction.

You have to notify the person if you are recording a conversation. So if he did record them and didn't tell the person on the other end it will be inadmissable as evidence. Just a fyi

First off, always record phone conversations when dealing with assholes like this, its easily an admission of guilt right there but you have to notify them at the beginning of a conversation. If you had a copy of the phone call and a receipt, you could easily win a courtcase and may even receive compensation (punitive damages) for all your trouble (hassle of traveling), ontop ofhim getting in trouble with the government.

Also, forget to mention, report him to Better Business Bureau.
File a complaint against a business with BBB, search for a business to file a complaint against, or find out the status of a complaint you submitted.

All of his story is hearsay, we haven't the proof of who is lying and you cant defame someones company without proof or they can take legal action against the poster and the sitehost if they admin don't remove it.

Its a shame how easily a law meant to protect victims can be used to protect criminals.
