  • 2013 auto show (toronto)

    Hello All,
First off, I wanted to say that I am not a english major. so please bare with me if my essay isnt perfect, its not one of my strenghts , but im working on it. so with that in mind to the auto show.

    MY AUTO SHOW EXPERIENCE

    TODAY, MY FAMILY AND I WENT TO THE TORONTO AUTO SHOW WITH 3 GOALS IN MIND;

    1. HAVE FUN LOOKING AT SICK RIDES
    2. FREE SWAG/PRIZES
    3. ASK NISSAN SOME QUESTIONS

    I MUST SAY MISSION ACOMPLISHED!

THE QUESTIONS I HAD IN MIND FOR NISSAN RELATE TO THE VAST DIFERENCE IN AMERICAN TO CANADIAN PRICING, NISMO JUKE PRICING AND AVAILABILITY, THE “e”NV COMMERCIAL TRUCKS AVAILABILITY, FUTURE NISSAN PROJECTS/TECHNOLOGY, AND WILL THEY EVER BEGIN BACK THE INLINE 6 TURBOCHANGED ENGINE.

    Q AND A

    USA VS CANADIAN PRICE.
ANSWER. THE SENTRA IS NOW LOWER THEN THE AMERICAN PRICE AND THE NEW PRICING STRUCTURE IS GOING TO BE MORE INLINE WITH THE CURRENT PARODY MARKET.

    NISMO JUKE PRICING AND AVAILABILITY
IN 3 WEEKS THERE WILL BE JUKES IN STORE TO TOUCH, A ONE STAFF SPECULATED THAT ITS WOULD BE NEAR $5,000 ABOVE THE TOP LINE FULLY LOADED JUKE, RON DIDN’T AGREE AND SPECIFICALLY SAID THERE IS STILL NOTHING FIRM, I LET THEM KNOW THAT THE JAPANESE PRICE FOR THEIR NISMO JUKE , AS REPORTED BY NISSAN GLOBAL, IS 28,500,000 JAPANESE YEN, WHICH WORKS OUT TO BE ABOUT $30K CANADIAN.
MORE NISMOS ARE COMING. AND DATSUN IN THE FUTURE

    THE COMMERICAL ELECTRIC NV SERIES
IS NOT YET COMING BUT IT MIGHT IN THE FUTURE . THERE ARE GOING TO BE MORE DRIVETRAIN OPTIONS AVAILBLE SOON.
DIESEL MAINLY, HYBRIDS ARE GOING TO BE THERE CONCENTERATION SINCE THAT IS WHAT THE MARKET IS DEMANDING.

    FUTURE PROJECTS
INLINE 4 CYLINDER DIRECT INJECTION TURBO(SENTRA OR ALTIMA I CANT REMEMEBER), MORE HYBRIDS COMING FROM INFINITI LINE TO NISSAN, NEW TURBOS ARE VIRTUALLY INDESTRUCTABLE (LOW INERTIA, AND WATER JACKETED)

    INLINE SIX
NOPE, THOSE DAYS ARE GONE WITH THE R32-34’S

ON A SIDE NOTE THE RESONACE CONCEPT WAS PRETTY NEAT IT WAS HEADED OUT TO GENEVA TONIGHT SO I WAS GLAD I SAW IT. LOTS OF CARBON FIBRE( A TREND THIS YEAR AGAIN), AND AERODYNAMIC RIMS (ALSO SOMETHING SEEN A LOT THIS YEAR) AND SOME SICK GOODYEAR TIRES (CONCEPT I BELIEVE I COULDN’T FIND A MODEL NUMBER JUST A MAKER MARK)

SO, THAT’S WHAT NISSAN HAD TO OFFER.

WE CONTINUED TO LOOK AROUND TRYING TO FIND THE GM BOOTH TO TWEET AND TRY TO GET THE FREE “SPECIAL EDITION” 2013 AUTO SHOW CAMERO. IT WAS A DISASTER, NO WIFI HOT SPOT, NO ORGANIZATION OR MICROPHONE OR FORETHOUGHT.

I STARTED TALKING TO A SALES GUY WHO WAS SURE HE KNEW ABOUT THE TURBOCHAGED CHEVY, THE SONIC. SO HE TOOK ME TO LOOK AT IT. AND HE KNEW NOTHING. I ASKED HIM IF IT WAS NOT INTERCOOLED AND HE AGREED AND SAID ITS BECAUSE ITS LOW PRESSURE 4-5 PSI. I ASKED ABOUT THE HOW FAR IT CAN GO ON A TANKN OF GAS AND HE STARTED TO GO ON ABOUT THE “MILES PER GALLON” AND JUNK. I STOPPED HIM THERE, AND ASKED HIM MORE DIRECTLY HOW BIG IS THE GAS TANK. HE DIDN’T KNOW. HE LOOKED UP THE U.S. STATS, AND QUOTED 12.65 GALLONS (48 LTR) AND THAT GET 700KM ( HIGHWAY PROBABLY)HE SAYS.

I NOTICED THEY HAVE MARKINGS ON PARTS TO LINE UP CLAMPS AND OTHER ITEMS UNDER THE HOOD AND COULDN’T HELP BUT NOTICE THAT EVEN ON AUTOSHOW FLOOR MODEL THEY HAD GONE OUTSIDE THE LINES, ONE WAS VERY POORLY ATTACHED. I POINTED OUT A SPOT WHERE A SEAM ENDS AT THE FIRE WALL WERE THERE IS AN OPENING FOR SALT AND SAND TO COLLECT INSIDE THE FRAME. IT LITERALLY NEEDED 2 MORE INCHES AND IT WOULD BE COVERED. I THEN POINTED OUT THAT IT DID HAVE A INTERCOOLER AND SHOWED HIM HOW IT WAS ROUTED.
CHEVY/GM CHEAPING OUT SO IT COSTS YOU MONEY IN THE FUTURE. GOOD TO SEE NOTHINGS CHANGED.

WE SPENT SOME TIME IN THE SUBARU BOOTH WITH THE BRZ, NOT THAT THERE WASN’T PLENTY OF SCION FR-S ‘ AROUND (ONLY LIKE 12), AND STUMBLED INTO FORDS SECTION AS THEY WERE SHOWING A VIDEO OF THE FOCUS RS (PRO-MODIFIED) MONSTER RALLY CAR DRIVEN BY A PROFESSIONAL DRIVER RIP THRU A HILLY ROAD COARSE. IT WAS AWESOME, BUT 10% OF THAT CAR WAS A FORD, AND 10% OF THAT DRIVING WAS THE CAR. IT WAS A COMPLETELY MODIFIED GUTTED RALLY CAR, WITH SEQUENTIAL SHIFTER, AND TORQUE VECTORING ALL-WHEEL DRIVE, THAT RAN ON NITROUS INJECTED ROCKET FUEL(EXAGERATION). BUT I GUESS THAT STUFF WORKS ON LEMMINGS. FORD IS REALLY TRYING TO BREAK IN TO THE TUNER SCENE. THERE WERE MUTIPLE SPORT EDITIONS LINED UP DECKED OUT TO LOOK JUST LIKE ALL THE TUNERS IN THE 700 SECTION OF THE SOUTH BUILDING.

LANT INSURANCE WAS THERE. SHOWING OFF CLIENTS CARS, AND REMINDING PEOPLE TO RESPECT EXOTIC AND RARE CARS ON THE ROAD. I LOVE THESE GUYS.

ALL IN ALL IT WAS A FUNNY SHOW THIS YEAR. A LOT OF “SALES PEOPLE” HAD NO IDEA WHAT THERE WERE TALKING ABOUT. EVEN THE PRESENTERS WERE STUBBLING ONE THERE SPEECHES.BUT, IT WAS STILL AN AWESOME SHOW AND I WILL ALWAYS GO BACK.

now on to the eye candy

Thanks tips_R32! I'd like to poke up, however I rarely have interest in "new" cars. I'll try to go down with bmw

Auto show is on till feb 24th metro toronto convention center north and south.
North 300 has new imports, south 700 is tuners, south 800 is the bigger area with domestics and exotics if im remembering right, theres alot going on.
I had a specific agenda and it was a blur still.
I was a bit distracted by the a female staff at the show collasping from a seizure. Then on the way home a major crash, not even a block from my house. It was across 2.5 lanes and traffic on lakeshore wasnt being smart about it. No major injuries. But traffic wasnt making things easier so i, having flagging experience, controlled traffic till the fire and cops arrived. They both thanked me and i left.

Please consider not typing in all capitals, it's common Internet manners, thank you.

It is on from the 15th to the 24th in Toronto. I didn't think Nissan had anything too interesting there. I actually quite liked the Mini Cooper S JCW GP. Comes with 6 piston brembo's on the front, and a rear struct bar in place of rear seats. My kind of car, except no family space.

I may move to a WRX STI next methinks

Nissan has a single R35 there, but you can't sit in it. When I was there, there was some kind of private filming/ad thing taking place and so they had it unlocked as the presenter got in and out of it a few times, but they locked it up right after. I suppose if you have a fancy camera and try to come off as a presenter you may get to sit in it?!

Its funny you say that, when I saw subaru booth, I was intersted. especially with the BRZ. But also because my Dad worked for subaru years ago. In fact I was part of the launch of the "svx" during the bread and honey festival parade in mississauga. I always like the imperza rs. which became the wrx, sti.
its got low center of gravity and receprecating mass (boxer 4 engine). but I liked the rear wheel only. which pushed me towards the skylines.
similar shape, sharp lines, agggressive look/sound. loved it.

Why do you type in all capitals? As I read your post I picture you relaying the same information to me in person, except yelling in my ear.

                      /Rant over.

Some cool stuff in here though.
