  • Tacoma TRD or Titan Pro 4x?!?!

Hey guys i need some second opinions. I'm in the market for a new truck and It's come down to a 2011 Toyota Tacoma TRD 4x4 access cab, or a 2012 Nissan Titan pro 4x4 crew cab. Both are the exact same price, and still carry out the 100,000 km factory warranty. I NEED TO MAKE A DECISION BY TOMORROW.

Both these trucks are the top of the line models. The Tacoma has 30,000 kms. The titan has 50,000. Both trucks are in flawless condition inside and out, no scratches or dents anywhere. They look brand new.

Here's some info on each truck:

TACOMA: TRD off road, 4.0 v6, 10,000lb winch, baja bumper, 2" lift?, 4x4 hi/lo on the fly, back up camera, heated seats, power locks, mirrors, windows. , rear diff locker button, abs, traction control, a-trac, auto (unfortunately), premium JBL audio with sub, cloth interior(water repellent fabric though), Brand new beefy 285 rough country tires. (By no means a luxury truck)

TITAN PRO 4X: ALL options,5.6 v8, dvd, brand new tires, leather, sunroof, adjustable pedals, harmon kardon audio system with sub, power rear window, power seats, power everything, 4x4 on the fly, locking rear diff button, aftermarket front bumper with PIAA lights, reverse parking sensors, locking tailgate, tons of options etc.

The way I see it, the tacoma looks better, more aggressive, less kilometers. Im not towing anything so it doesnt matter. The titan though has a sick interior and my friend is super happy with his 2013 pro 4x4. Its a tough call so lets here what you guys think. thanks.

    not really apples for apples.

The tacoma is a 1/4 ton truck with low towing and ok mileage with a wee box.

The Titan is bigger, good towing and the worst mileage of ANY truck on the market, (excluding some 3/4 ton gas trucks).
    No build thread.

You sure you dont care about mileage? I have an ecoboost that is 7 mpg better (real world not sticker) that the Titan and I pay about $80 a week on gas to daily drie around town to and from work. Just thought I'd mention it

If you don't care about fuel, then get the bigger truck. Done deal. More size, box, towing, power so on

So weird, I've had two other people this week ask me about Tacoma vs Nissan truck. One other thing to consider is how long you plan to keep it. Tacoma's never seem to depreciate so resale would be better. Having owned several older Toyota 1/4 ton trucks I'd go with the Taco but I'm sure you'll be happy with either choice

I drove both new so value is irrelevant in this case. The one thing I found was the Nissan had very soft brakes. Other than that you can't loose with either choice.
Buying a truck is a pain in the a$$.

you're right i noticed that too with the nissan. I plan on keeping the truck for a good 3 years. Mainly want something reliable to get me to work and back and also something i can take off road and go anywhere, the taco is most likely better offroad, although they both would do well. The gtr is far from reliable, and it needs to become a second vehicle.

We had a 2009 Tacoma (new) and it was great but as soon as the wife got pregnant we needed something more family friendly. We paid $45k or something and sold it for 30k 2 years later (had 32k KMs) so it kept its value.
We now have an Eco boost f150 which is way more advanced than both in nearly every way but almost cost $15k more.

I currently daily a 2009 Tacoma trd and haven't had an issue with it. Only spent money on general maintenance. It's 4 years old, I paid 36k brand new and had an offer last year of 27k (couldn't part with it).

My dad used to have a Titan, after 100,000km we had nothing but problems with it, including replacing the exhaust manifold 3 times, finally ended up selling it for (only) 14k with 190,000km on it.

Definitely go with the Tacoma, it's a very reliable truck that is known for its quality and most of them are on the road 300,000+ km .

                  Cheers
