  • opinions please

    Hello everyone

I have been here a long time and i know most of you are the same. I respect alot of your guys opinions so i am going to ask all of you to weigh in here... (i know most here are bias in regards to liking skylines, but please look at this from an unbias view)

I just sold my skyline and am looking to get something different... i have my eye on a s14 kouki, 1997, 5 speed from factory, cream leather interior... No cracks in the leather, tien coilovers, GTR 33 rims, stock engine (KA24DE), no mods, all stock exhaust, showed me the cams and have next to no wear on them. not a single spot of rust, no rush in wheelwell, none in the spare wheel area. seriously the cleanest car i have ever seen...

    this is her:

Now my questions is this... he is asking $8500... is that to high? about right? should i counter with say 8000 or 8200? (side note, he was asking 9500, and i offered $8000 and he came back at me with 8500)

so that all... just looking for other opinions in regards to the price for what i am getting

Very nice looking, seems a little bit on the high side to me but might be worth it if it is as clean as you say. Maybe 8300 after an inspection and nothing major found?

$8500 can get you a minty fresh late model s14 just like that one from japan yo....but instead of a ka, sr20 late model

stay away man, import your own.

      whats the mileage

If you are going to import, you may as well go S15.....much better looking.

Aren't the KA motors just an RB with 2 cyl. missing? Much better than an SR if that's the case. Guys in Aus are making 500+ with a 2L version of that motor...tough little buggars.

*edit* ignore that last bit, I was thinking CA18, KAs are junk, SR is an improvement for sure. Or you can do an RB25 swap into this car.

way way way over priced. Even considering the car is in mint shape as you say a kouki s14 with a ka is worth not a penny over 6k and i wouldnt even pay that. it would be an even tougher transition going from you 300hp or whatever it was to a gutless ka thats slower than a civic. at that price tag why not grab a clean gtt or a few more pennies and get a s15?

honestly i would import a s15 or s14, comes with a sr already, you can probably get a really good condition one for that or less

Idk if people actually really look into importing but I have been the last little bit and for a MINT Silvia you're looking at 8000-9000 landed that doesn't include all of ICBCs shot that just at the docks. And who knows the condition of the engine. For an s15 it's around 10-13 easily for a MINT one. Again. Engine condition unknown. Ya I could try to get one with low mileage etc etc hit you just never know if say the guy ran out of oil once and or had an injector go on him and has had detonation. I have been doing my research and looking at the auctions etc. Ya I may not have a turbo on the s14 here. But it wouldn't cost me much to turbo the KA and get a darn quick s14.

I recently bought and sold a 1990 240sx (ka24) same condition (40,000km), bought for $7000, sold for $6500. If the car is mint, kms are low and compression is good, I like the ka24 better, I said it's a good price but I guess that depends on location. As strong as a civic, sure but it's rwd and looks nicer. There are turbo kits for the ka now a days. If the car is clean, who cars what engine is in it, engines can be replaced, bodies, not so easily.

Eveyrone and their dog has an SR20 in those lol. If you want an SR powered LHD "s14" 240sx, I can get info for one in McMurray for about $6000 but it's in rough shape and obviously frankensteined. Check out KA vs SR in the last few years of Dsport mag.

$8500 will get you a "clean gtr" that would require a $5-15k rebuild in less than 2 years (most likely).
$8500 might get you a SR powered s14 from japan but it's not local still needs expenses to get on the road legally, most times has unknown history and it's RHD (bound to be banned in the future, I PROMISE that). You can have A RHD silvia or whatever all you want but it'll never be LHD R14 cool (should you go the full-race route).

How many KMs? Depending on that, I'd probably offer max $8k

first mod was a short shifter LOL exhaust is on order should be here within the next.

it is readin 195000KM on the odometer currently... however everything is MINT, seriously this engine was well taken care of and feels like its brand new, looks like its brand new, next to no wear on anything from we can see, cams look like they are new as well... thats how clean it is...

soon to be turboing the KA and giving that a whirl and see how she does... ohhhhh the plans!!!
