  • Skymeet 2011 Rules

    Hey Guys
Skymeet is getting closer and closer so I would just like to take this time to discuss some rules. There is really only one. No careless driving of any kind will be tolerated. Anybody seen doing anything that can be classified under this will be asked to leave the property.

Most of the guys here are mature owners so we should be alright. Just a heads up though.

Thanks and see you all there.

    Matty

Are we accepting outsiders, aka people that are not part of GTRC but have either heard by word of mouth, or who are cruising by and decide to join? That's what I'd be more concerned of.. But as it seems now, our group is pretty much exclusive!

Might want to speak to the local boys in blue and ask if one of them could make himself present for the day to prevent the attraction of idiots , might also improve the image of our glorious cars presenting it as an organised CLUB meet

Good call! Plus, having the cops there to filter out the morons PRIOR to morons acting out is a sure fire way to ramp up our groups image..

Oakville and I have discussed this. We'd prefer to keep it a GTRC Members meet. That said, if anyone wants to bring a friend with a nice car or if a small group DOES show up (which, face it, 50+ Skylines, it's gonna happen. We had a Civic crew join us for a few minutes last year), then that will be fine. HOWEVER!

They MUST abide by the rules. Both what Matty just posted, and what Oakville has posted in the Skymeet thread.

Originally posted by Oakville View Post

Also, since this is a GTRC members meet, non-members may be asked to shift their vehicle for a signed up member's vehicle if need be. I don't want anyone losing a spot after driving for 6+ hours from Ottawa or anything.

As for bringing a police officer out; I don't think that would be the best idea. As nice as it might be, do we remember what happened to that PT Cruiser charity cruise? They called the police to inform them of what they were doing and they pulled over ALL of them. Those were PT's, these are Skylines. No need to get anyone pulled over/cited over "a loud exhaust" or something.

TL;DR: You disobey the rules, you'll be asked to leave the premises immediately. There will be ZERO TOLERANCE for any dumb driving. We don't need a bad name for Skylines or any negative publicity for Right Drive, who is very kindly allowing us to host it at their facility!

Well UR (250 km drive from Laval, to and from Tremblant) here in MTL has over 500 cars, 490 of which are beyond the point of legality, and it's connected with law enforcement.. We have police at check points throughout keeping the cars in groups by ceasing the flow of traffic at heavy intersections; we never have any issues..

Calling attention to the police prior to an event will cease any incidence, its the exact opposite if the police attention is called by an incident. It just may be to our benefit, that's all i'm saying.

At any rate, since it's being held in a lot by a company who owns the lot, we should be fine.

Lol, they do that to my buddies in their bagged dubs all the time.. Pain in the ass.. Ah well.. Logically, they can't do anything if we're such a large group. I mean we ARE sitting ducks, but if we're a mature group we'll be fine none the less. I'm sure GTA is much more lenient than the cops up here in MTL

^ They arent lol. you dont have MTO!

As for police presence, or at least them knowing about it, I think its a great idea.

It is my understanding that this is now out on Facebook and other forums, and while this was set up as a Car enthusiasts meet...This meet will have quite a big impact on our lives as owners of Skylines. The mature longtime owners of Skylines dont associate themselves with the whole meet thing anymore because quite frankly, it attracts negative attention. Most guys out there don't have the same mindset (the kids that fly the "f*** the police' flag, for giving them a hard time on ILLEGAL mods to cars/dumbass driving) and these are the guys that kill meets.

I organized this meet last year and to be honest, while I had a good time overall and met a lot of nice guys that are there for the same reason as myself, a bunch of punks showed up with bad attitudes and drove away the respected members of GTRC. I had no intention of attempting another meet, but since the opportunity was given to hold it at Right Drive, that would hopefully attract some of the original GTRCers with nice cars and laid back attitudes, the guys that dont associate themselves. Im glad that a lot of guys, like Neal, JZ, Z-Tuned and Daryl that have been here for 6 or 7 years are coming, and I don't want anyone to regret joining because of kids with bad attitudes.

All I'm saying is, with the addition of members that don't make themselves known on these boards, and contact me, Daryl, or Snake556, the chances for idiots showing up increases tenfold. Not because its a chance to meet guys with similar passions, but its because "time to show these skyline elitists that my (insert SR240, boosted VR6, B16 EG w/ vtec bro, etc.)(not ripping on the cars, by any means. Drivers of them TEND to have drastically different views on police and manners (JDMrides as an example)) is better than their stupid car.

I wouldn't be making these claims without being out at meet after meet/tims hot spots over the last 5 years.

/rant. lets try and keep this a respected gathering and low key so no negative attention is brought to us. We're there to have some chats, see some cool cars and make some friends.

                        Ryan

edit: I don't intend on coming off as a "this is a skyline only meet" comment, just throughout history, meets with owners of different cars typically end up having altercations/difficulties.

I am glad this came up. For the skyline guys I fully appreciate everyone getting together as a group and really showing what a true community we are. But when it comes down to it my patience will not be there for people with ignorant comments and disrespectful actions towards anyone else. If for whatever reason this happens I will either leave or wait till you are asked to leave. This is something I look forward to so we can not only have some fun but make a name for the entire rhd community and let people know that people can be responsible with such nice cars.

I hope everyone is able to come and be mature enough so everyone can enjoy shooting the shi* and talking cars
Miss driving sooooo bad! Need to get a car on the road ASAP!

Any non Skylines will not be entering lot's 1 or 2. If a Civic or anything shows up, they can park across the street and walk over to check out the cars. Same rule applies for everyone. Dumb driving and you will be asked to leave.

We discussed making the police aware of the event (which is what many large event organizers do) but decided against it. If everyone is on their best behavior then we have nothing to worry about. Keep your rpm's low when you leave and don't scream up highway 7 until you reach the 400 series highways and we will draw no more attention to us than the regular traffic on that day.

There MAY be an off duty officer walking around the whole day so any **** talkers or disturbers will be dealt with strictly though him. He is very very very good friend to RD and has attended almost all of our events from Importfest to customer appreciation days. He is also a very big car enthusiast so you have no worries about him inspecting your cars for legality. If he comes it is because he is an advocate for our cars and enjoys them.
