local race tracks,edmonton area?

just wondering if there is any good tracks around edmonton area,i know there is castrol and stratotec,but is there any that you can go every weekend and race around a track,not just 1/4 mile?

No. Stratotech is as good as it gets.

i just checked out there website,it seems like you have to be a member of a group,everything is a private function.is there is days were you can just pay and drive?

Sadly stratotech was never really designed for full size cars, which sucks.
Closest is race city in Calgary as far as i know.

Race city is also closing it's doors pretty soon here. They didn't renew the lease.

Isn't Castrol raceway any good?

castrol raceway is suppose to be pretty good,but i think it is just a drag track,and drift.i want an autocross track

through the grapevine i was told they are building a new track near crosswinds or whatever that place is just north of airdrie

Nope, that has been put on hold. First due the the downturn in the economy and now because the airport might not renew their lease.

I have also herd that there is an oval with a paved in field being built in between taber and calgary...
And then they are suppose to start building a road course next year.

There's been rumors of that happening since before I could even get my learners permit :wink:

As far as stratotech goes, you just sign up for one of the track days and go race. It isn't open to cars that often, but like I said it's as good as it gets to stay local and road race.

Not sure if they still do this, but in the winter they did do a rally style track at castrol.
