  • Automatic VI issued

Alright so today I went into an insurance agent looking to add additional coverage. As soon as she gets my information into the computer, there was some outstanding issue. It read "error 604" she apparently couldn't override it. After a couple calls to another insurance agent, she claims my car needs a provincial inspection. I explained I've never received a VI ticket or anything for that matter. Supposedly the reasoning is ICBC realized last year the place that performed my first inspection like 8 years ago or something, is not a legitimate business or some ********. I threw insurance on the skyline like 6 months ago, and there was no problems then. I've actively transferred insurance between the skyline and my crx with no problems before.

Anybody else encounter this issue? Or is the insurance agent on acid?

*Note: I still have my inspection sheet from the original owner when the car first entered the country. Also, the insurance agent mentioned that since I now know about needing this inspection they'll most likely decline my claim if something were to happen.

For the life of me, I can't remember. I know I have it for sure though, somewhere in the thousands of receipts the car came with.

Maybe the shop who issued the inspection could straighten this out, I don't have much of an idea how this stuff works but just an idea!

Okay, so I dug through my receipts and found the inspection sheet. Gurton's Garage in Saanich performed the inspection... So now what?

Probably fairly cheap, but you'll need the usual BS, headlights and rear reflectors and what not.

I'm just waiting for my manditory VI now that I have to renew my insurance this month :\

When I brought my S into the country Canadian Tire did the inspection I believe. It wasn't expensive at all.

Just spoke to my personal insurance agent. She phoned ICBC, supposedly 1700 people in Victoria are affected by this. Gurton's Garage turned out to be under investigation. So I've been told anywhere from $50-300 for the inspection.. Out of curiosity, I wonder if I'll be air care exempt for one year after I get it inspected.

Fuuuuck I have no clue where mine was done.... Mine was done before I got it.

Hope everything works out for yea. I know there's a list on here somewhere that outlines everything you need to do for it to pass.
