  • Importing A 97 R33 From Daishin Trading

So here is the story done some research on the forum found a few good posts but still some grey areas i would like some help with First off
the car is a 1997 r33 GTS25-T i think its a series 2 *NOT sure how to tell*
I am currently negotiating with the seller and he is supplying me with additional pictures also changing out the wing for a gtr wing.
    http://www.tradecarview.com/pr/?uid=521478
1 DAISHIN TRADING, I am currently looking to import a r33 from this company wondering if anyone has heard anything about this company i found them on a website call Tradecarview.com which deals with jdm cars

    2. I found a old post from 2005 about importing from Henry wondering if anything has changed in the 7 years since he wrote it "how to get your car off the dock"

3.what parts would i be replacing i know the usual's from looking into importing a r32, lights, reflectors, tires? anything else major?????

    4. Also any advice on the matter would be gratefully appreciated i got shafted on my last gtr i bought Privately and would like to prevent this from happening again....

Is it this one with ~130kms? Looks like it started as a series 2 (front lights); hard to tell as there is alot going on there. Rear bumper is a different color - could be a stitch of a few different GTS. My thoughts are that you will be spending conseratively an additional $4500 into importing and making it legal to drive in Canada. Which, with their asking price puts it close to $10k. At that number there are alot of great rides already here. Good luck with the purchase process.

      Hey Man..

Check out JDMVIP for more uptodate info about importing..

      If its a 97 its a Series 2..

as for the Cost.. not sure what cdnleaf is talking about, but he is out east..

If that car costs you $4200 CAD FOB

Just add another $1000 CAD Shipping.

      $1000 CAD customs, and misc

$500 inspection.. and its yours..s o not to bad.. Could be less those are higher estimates.

Keep in mind that Trade car view is just a listing of Dealers in Japan.
Lots of them have never delt with Canada before and you could end up with costly storage Fee's if they dont send you the right paperwork etc..

So I've bought 2 cars fron these guys both came over pretty mint.

But I made sure to look at the auction sheets to see wat was up with the cars actually.

If I were you just buy locally, easier and you get to see the car.

That's kind of funny and we're only 2k off our ++ conservative estimates - $2500 yours/$4500 mine. What I'm talking about are the requirements you've included in $2500 + the additional $$ considerations you mentioned as 'misc' (not including potential storage fees - great observation)... such as emissions compliance, electrical (the steering wheel / horn looks shot on one of the pics, running lights) battery, brakes (potentially), timing belt (potentially), radio frequency modulator / unless he's going satellite, vehicle appraisal for insurance, tires etc. This is just a small list of things I was thinking of to make it good to go in Canada. Now get back to work - as an eastern member living in a have not province - we need all the $$ taxes your BC legal Bud, lumber and natural gas fracking can muster. All the best, Dan.

(No pics.. Seems a bit high in price)

            This one - http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/rd...948179032.html
            (No inspection, average price)

Car sold at auction for 174,000.. Most agents in japan charge 100,000Yen..

so if you pay anymore then 280,000 FOB on it.. your paying to much..

                  Here is the auction sheet:

and here is a link to the car:

Really great looking ride. Dah_hunter is absolutely correct, all things running smoothly $2512 will get it off the dock and in your driveway. Beyond that and the things referred to above as misc. and repairs (that you're going to need done) - add atleast another $2000+ or have the cash/credit available. They are great automobiles and like any performance machine - they run on cash.
