  • Bottom line on territory Z

So, does anyone have any real first hand knowledge of reasons for NOT insuring under territory Z in BC?

Is it acceptable to insure under territory Z (to and from work/school) and still remain at your residence/work place in the lower mainland?

It costs more per year by quite a bit, but for those that know about territory Z and its advantages over regular insurance, especially when dealing with our "performance vehicles" is it a viable choice?

I wont go into detail of as to why im asking, but for those that know the benifits of TZ can you please chime in about whether this is a smart choice or a bad choice in the event of an accident in the Lower mainland.

FYI, Territory Z insurance is not considered pleasure use insurance, so its good for work and school over 15km's, you do not get comprehensive and collision coverage (which i don't get anyways). This insurance is good for Canada wide travelling.

Car accidents can be costly, but picking up the pieces is easier if you have a valid insurance policy that protects your personal liability and the value of your vehicle.

So im assuming this is the (insure the car on the Island to avoid Aircare) route..

here is my question.. whats the benefit to insuring in Z if it costs more..

why not just use W or whatever the other ones are that dont use Aircare..

      anyways to answer you questions..

Territory Z covers the car if your out of BC more then 50% of the time.. and since your paying more i really dont see anything negitive happening.. since when would ICBC care if your paying them TO much..

however on that note, falsely declaring the cars primary storage location could create issues if you were to get into an accident.

Real Skyline owners have lost at least one to a freakish accident (*- ω -) = #dungive'a

hypothetically speaking, lets say i did insure under territory Z, left autoplan with my papers and active insurance, then an hour later, day, week, month, etc... swapped my registered territory back to D (or whatever the lower mainland is), would/could icbc deny me coverage if there was an accident in the lower mainland with my registered papers all up to date?

From what ive read and searched about, you can register for territory Z, then swap back to the lower mainland territory and not need aircare untill its time to renew.

I guess really what im asking is, when making a claim does icbc go by the current information provided, or will they look further in the past and bust balls for registering outside for 1 day and then back inside?
