Negative, was issued a full blown temp permit. The woman at the office pointed out the A-B permits were only for laden vehicles in excess of 5000 Kg. However they still made a point of saying it's intended for inspection and inspection-maintenance related driving.

is it hand written permit or computer printed? they need registration number for printed ones.

I've never seen a printed one... even for my registered vehicles they've always given me ones they fill out by hand.

Except then if I need to make a claim they'll ask me what I am doing in the states when they told me the permit was for 'inspection purposes only'

I think I'll have to skip the USA bit as much as I want to go... not worth risking ICBC denying coverage to me.

So your car hasn't gone through inspection yet? If not, DO NOT screw around at all with the hand writen TOPs, they are for transport to and from the inspection facility ONLY. God help you if you have an incident and you can't prove otherwise, they will hang you from the highest tree.

And you are very correct in staying as far away from the boarder as possible, they will confiscate the car on the spot because the whole story and facts of an unregistered coming south for a "car show" will stink to high heaven.

jon they cant just confiscate it without either you admiting to selling or they catch you in the act. i was thinking he got it registered and had a temp day permit. A-b like u said is a no go.

With the border dudes...I dont trust them any further than I could throw them. You would most likely get the car back, but they can do anything they want in the pursuit of Homeland Security.

That being said though..if the weather was going to be better I would have made the trek in my GTR.

Next topic is the boarder... Because it's the long weekend the boarder lineups will be a GONG SHOW, this morning the boarders were 1+ hours wait at 5am. I have nexus but my girlfriend doesn't, so that puts me in the regular lines.

And lastly to chime in to the skyline boarder crossing talk, obviously don't risk it, what's the point... I crossed last weekend for the opening drift event at evergreen, and got pulled in just for suspicion that I might sell. They held me for 1hr and a HALF FOR NOTHING!
I've owned the car for 1.5 years and even at the booth showed proof of where I was going and insisted multiple times, I'd never be interested in selling, it didn't matter.... Those guys can do what the want.... Missed over and hour and a half of the event because of them..... Just a bit of info.

Tomorrow since we will be crossing together, I'm sure they will get the point, I doubt they will pull us all in, but one of us might take one for the team. But I'm not letting them ruin my life so they can feel powerful and intitled, cause in the end they can't just take my car, I guess worst case they could just turn me around.
