Oil cooler options

Well it's common knowledge that modified RB26's need aftermarket oil coolers, and you can even benefit to have one on a stock motor.

What I'd like to know is what others have done, or have seen done, for aftermarket oil coolers - BNR32s especially.

-Kits or custom made
-Mounting locations
-What works good and what works better
-Thermostat or no thermostat
-Core size
etc.

Post up any info you have. Pictures installed would be great!

My average temperature on the highway used to be 90 c.Now it is 80c or just below on my Greddy gauge.
Just make sure your oil lines are on good

I bought a greddy 10 row so i did not have to deal with making my own lines and oil filter relocation.

if it is not sufficient i will pick up a mocal core and throw out the greddy core.

Greddy 10 row with thermostat and filter relocation.

Mounted it behind the intercooler on the right side in a vertical orientation.

Make sure you've got a thermostat to bypass the cooler when your oil's not hot enough to need cooling.

I went with a E-bay universal. Bad Idea. The sandwich plate fit fine, and it could work, but I could not get the placement I wanted without it looking terrible. So. I bought the Greddt 16row kit as I know it fits nicely.

Thanks for posting up what you've got guys.

I'm trying to compile a list of what's available for us BNR32 owners for oil coolers. On top of what you've all mentioned, so far I've come across the following options:

Greddy
- Mounts in front of radiator, passenger side behind bumper, or driver side behind bumper
- Comes with internal or external thermostat or without.
- 10, 13, or 16 row core

HKS
- Mounts ???
- includes thermostat
- 15 row core

ARC
- mounts between headlights in place of grille
- comes with thermostat ?
- unknown core size - slightly wider than GTR-J's

FC RX-7 oil cooler
- wide/short core size (6 row?)
- mounts behind bumper
- make your own lines

Custom kit
- Uses Mocal, Setrab or B&M cores
- Thermostats are available
- Make your own lines to fit

If anyone has anything to add, or to correct, please post it up.

Nismo makes a oil cooler, 11 row core and mounts on left front member also comes with air guide.
