Sounds like a good build, but wouldn't it be cheaper to get a set?

Comes with a headgasket too! and all forged components.

your title is an oxymoron unfortunately.

you wont mix stroker with poor mans, nor rb26 for that matter which i know you have realized by now.

I'm still a fan of an off the shelf carrillo unlimited rod with carr bolts(1900usd) and cosworth pistons and a ring pack from total seal.

Well, rather than have this turn into another "Allan's Turbo Choice Extraveganza....."...lol....I decided to just bite the bullet and FORCE myself to turn another corner of my build, by, once again, buying something.....so that there is NO CHOICE anymore...lol

I went up and picked LOCALLY (as in , in my hands right now) up a brand new R33 Crankshaft all sealed in the Nissan box and sh1t today for $950........quite a deal, so no one has to read about me crying about what to do now...lol

It's now set in stone. No collar, no fixed crank, no stroker.......and all STD size bearings...lol

No choices left - just shut my mouth and build....lol (till I get to the head that is mcfly ?...)

My budget for the head is $5000 + CAMS/Gears (so $6000 total). That should give me enough for a decent Porting job ($1500-ish I imagine) and other goodies. Hopefully that will get me started in the right direction.

The bottom end will be cheap, so I can put a little into the head.

On the shortblock, All machine work, assembly, all forged brand new parts including crankshaft for UNDER $4000.......(not including Oil Pump)......

It just makes sense to put $$ where it will benefit me and the head is a decent source of power/response/scalability.

Word to the wise - if you're putting ebay forged rods in your motor (this means Eagle) GET THEM CHECKED before you put them in.

Just got off the phone direct with Eagle in the US....talked to Jimmy

                            ESP H-Beam Rods:
                            ------------------
                            - NO "B" Stock EVER, all Rods on market the same under part#. #CRS4783N3D
                            - All 'ESP 4340' Rods for RB26 come w/ARP 2000 Bolts ONLY (only Rod Eagle Makes for this app)
                            - Rods rated (with proper accompanying parts) for 225-250 HP PER Hole depending on stroke (1500 HP RB26, 900 HP Honda 4Cyl)

As everyone knows, CAT makes all of the Eagle and Tomei Rods in the same place.

                              Cat also sells direct.

There is now an Ebay seller selling their RB26 STROKER RODS (basically Tomei, with cheaper bolts that you have to upgrade) for only $350-ish (add $72 for ARP L19 Bolts).

There was a guy on the UK site that ordered the CAT Rods (standard stroke though) from this guy on Ebay and he was sent a set of Tomei 'stamped' Rods (with additional oiling holes in the big end and all) in the CAT box......as CAT makes them anyways. You probably need to balance them with your rotating assembly, but you would do that anyways, so it's not a big deal, right ?

....nothing wrong with getting them from the manufacturer's Distro in the States BEFORE Tomei throw L19 bolts into them for that price....hey ?

With this new development, I am seriously considering ordering a NISMO GT Stroker Crank and the 119.5mm Rods above for my build instead......and selling my 'Brand New In box' Eagle Rods and my 'Brand New In box' R33 Crankshaft....

Yes, I know.....Ebay sucks......especially when it 'pulls the curtain' back on the 'Secrets of the Orient' and the pricing.....LOL

Don't get me wrong, I don't mind helping to put food on a supplier's tables.......as long as I have enough food on my own at the end of the day. And it seems that 'authentic JDM' just doesn't make that possible, even if the Rods come from China to begin with.

                              Flame away.
