  • REINIK/REIMAX Gear Drive Upgrade Kits

Well, I have to face facts and realize that I may be stuck with my N1 Oil Pump because they are simply sh1t for BIG POWER Builds.....and noone wants them.

Is there hope for me with a REINIK/REIMAX Gear Upgrade in my N1 Pump ? Or am I still stuck in an 'Inferior' casing ?

Once my N1 was Upgraded, Would I not have a TRUE Class A/400R Pump then ? ...or is there MORE to it than this ? ...'cause I mean, where did the N1 Pump even come from then ? stock + spring ? and that's it ?

    ...as per usuall.....Mcfly ?

RHDJapan started stocking them at $600 shipped.....but Greenline is about $100 cheaper, so I will order from them.
RHDJapan offers the best quality performance parts made in Japan including Nismo, Mugen, Defi, Spoon, Cusco, Tomei, HKS and other JDM brands.

Pump isn't the problem, harmonics is.

get an ATI dampner and don't worry. If you plan on revving to 10k, I suggest a nicer pump like a jun pump.

ATI dampner is not a problem, that's taken care of.

People still seem to shatter the gears in the N1 pumps on a good enough launch most times though and this could very well be a good solution for those like me that have N1 pumps already that are either faced with selling at a big loss or eating he cost altogether.

Don't quote me on this -

Or what about fitting an external belt driven Moroso wet sump oil pump. Similar to what is used on a dry sump setup (scroll down in the link below) -

Very sexy setup....but I think that the costs would be too great for a Daily Driver type car.

Anyways, back to the Reimax Gears/N1 Pump Upgrade.....anyone care to comment further ?

Given your current situation, the gear upgrade may well be the hot ticket. Don't expect too much feedback though since you may well be the first on this board to do it. I considered that setup before I got my Nismo pump but couldn't find anyone who sold it. Just be sure to measure the gear diameter twice before ordering. Some are 77mm and some are 81mm IIRC.

As per GTROC the Reimax gears are a waste of money because they are nearly the cost of a new good oil pump. Sell your N1, purchase a jun, and you'll come out further ahead than purchasing the reimax gears.

Oh, yeah, dirtgarage went 9.9's at 140+ and shifted at 9000+ with the N1 pump for a couple of years.

Are they the best constructed pump on earth? No, but that doesn't mean they can't handle a good bit of revs and abuse in a properly built motor.

Please forgive my ignorance as I have been out of the GTR scene for a year or so.

BUT i thought there was 2 people recorded that have broken a N1 Oil Pump and it was because of loose retaining screws? Have more people stepped forward?

Most people are talking of exploding the gears on launch.

Someone locally here in Calgary has done it. I spoke to someone about it yesterday that experienced it first hand.

Internet rumours magnify even small bits of truth....

I've heard of several N1 pumps failing at over 8000 rpm and/or bouncing off the rev limiter. I have heard of NONE that failed under 8k without hard rev limiter action. Any data on the Calgary launch event?

E-Bay purchases from known knock-off artists have been a bit dodgy too. (d'ya think?)

Maybe they have been winding the revs up to 8000rpm+ on the line and dumping the clutch???

                        we can do this again
but i know it was posted.

you can shatter any pump you have past 8 if your oem damper sucks, which i am certain most do by now.
The rev limiter will kill a n1/oem, and it very well could kill a different brand if it is harsh enough.
cavatation becomes another issues when you start getting into the 10k range but that we can ignore since if you are going that high the information should already be known.

Are the gears a sound investment if I have an N1 pump already that I am possibly stuck with ?

Seeing as how if you are resourceful you can buy a JUN pump for a bit more then 600, not really.

There should be a thread about them on gtruk though
