  • Wierd idle.

Now after my digging I have come to the conclusion my car is a bit of a electrical mess, the shop whomever it may be did not take the greatest deal of care when doing the motor instal, (both shops which are board sponsors who will remain nameless as they are not my dealings) Managed to make the wiring for a lack of a better term a complete ******* mess so i find myself sorting things out wondering why this wiring harness is hacked to **** and broken clips everywhere. so this is my story,

WHEN COLD my car idles at 1100 RPMS a smooth idle, little smell of running rich but all in all good

When WARM my car his 1200-1300RPMS. Now I dont want to go out and buy all these sensors to track this problem down and i tried searching but no one has the exact answer. Where can I start? What is a normal idle?

So far I have instaled a new temp sensor via reccomendation, now when i plug/unplug the temp sensor the idle does not change but from what I have been told idle is supposed to rise up very high.

So any input would be great car barely gets 360kms to the tank which is annoying.

According to the FSM, idle is 950 RPM. Check for vacuum leaks, intake manifold leaks, ITB gasket leaks. Anything like that. Carb cleaner is now your friend, spray it everywhere and check to see if your idle changes. If that doesn't so anything, then it's somewhere in the wiring, so you can have fun with that...

I'm working on the same issue but with my GTS-T. Ever since the plenum install it seems to run like ****. I think I may have traced my issues down to the wiring being weaved thru too close to the water lines. I gotta tear everything apart to find out for sure though.

my car has had high idle since day one. 1100RPM. I've got no vacuum leaks so far as I can tell. I've been planning to get an EMS for a while so I've just been waiting for that to deal with it.

I adjusted mine a while back. Main reason for my concern is it was fine when I drove it to the shop. Now it's all messed up. I want to makes sure I get everything running right before installing the standalone EMS.

I mean this sounds like a stupid question but have you tried playing with the adjustment screw.

I think he means on the AAC. Take off your AAC, clean it and adjust it.

There's also an adjustement on the ECU itself...

                    indeed

Steve, heres a pretty good guide for messing with the AAC.

Oh and if your wiring is pretty haggered I may have a spare rb26 Harness for you.

Theres so many damn things that effect the idle on a GTR its silly. ECU idle screw, AAC, IAC, TPS, vacuum leaks, it goes on and on.

Left side of passenger feet area, inside the panel close to the door. I believe there is 1-2 bolt to remove the panel. And then another 2 bolts to remove the ECU.

I did not know there was a screw on the ECU for the idle. Any trick to it or just turn it counter-clockwise? Is that all it controls is the idle?
