  • Midnight Purple clarification

Just wanted to clarify some questions I had with which models Midnight purple was available for.

    R33 Vspec - Midnight Purple I
R34 Vspec - Midnight Purple II
R34 Vspec II - Midnight Purple III

Now my question is, was midnight purple available for any other models such as the R34 V-spec Nur ?

BCNR33 Came in Midnight Purple I, which was a stronger more fluorescent version of the Deep Blue available on a select few BNR32's, however with a Wine Red clearcoat, making it Purple.

BNR34 also came with Midnight Purple II Paint, as WELL as Midnight Purple III Paint on V-Spec, and M-Spec models. Nur's were not available in this color code, however, I have heard that 5 V-Spec II Nur's left the factory with MPIII color code.

The color codes are as followed:

    BCNR33 MP: LP2
    BNR34 MPII: LV4
    BNR34 MPIII: LX0

Like I said, only 5 Nur's left the factory in MPIII.

How hard would it be to paint a car in an authentic LX0?

Nearly impossible I would say, I did a lot of digging through the UK boards and they say that no one can mix a genuine midnight purple without ordering straight from Japan. I was quoted 450 pounds per liter for MP2 from a well known shop in the UK, and roughly $700/L from a shop in Japan.

Does anyone know what the base color for MP is ?

Dark Blue Pearl for MPI and MPII, and Wine Red for MPIII.

Those colors are both R32 factory colors which can be found on the list in FAQ.

Looks so beautiful though, R34 Midnight Purple is my dream car (as I'm sure it is for a lot of other members on here).......how many litres of base, and how many litres of "clear" coat would be required to do a full proper paint job? (well, exterior...maybe engine bay too, but that requires a huge teardown).

Btw...mythical Nur Specs with a midnight purple paint job...my only response is *drooling* *glazed eyes*

From what I hear, MPII is a 4000 dollar paintjob, and MPIII is a 6500 dollar paintjob.

It's been done on a few 240's and such in the U.S.

And the M-Spec Nur's are not mythical.

Awesome, thanks for the price approximations!

And I dunno......you can count the number of Factory Midnight Purple Nurs on one hand.......that sounds pretty mythical to me.

I have no idea sorry. My knowledge is only so much.

I'd imagine it's White or Black, with such a heavy and nice range. I know the code is LAC however.

If you want a perfect mix, its all dependent on who is painting the car, who is mixing the paint, what they charge to paint a car, and what paint you use. Also are you getting prep done, body work? etc.. many things play into the price of a good paint job.

If you gunna buy paint from nissan... ya your gunna get raped on the price and shipping since its a dangerous good. But there is many ways around this.
