FF wasn't meant for sports cars. It was meant for economy, everyday driving. It's cheaper for manufacturers to produce FF cars, and there are a few advantages. Less drivetrain loss for example, as opposed to an FR car. To make a sports car from an FF platform isn't natural, and it will never replace FR.
From the "sports cars" that are FF though, there are a few decent ones.
The Acura TL-S is a decent sedan, although you could do much better for the money.
Mitsubishi FTO was decent as well.
There are a few good, mostly older Celicas out there.
The Cobalt SS is a very competitive car, great engine and handling.
Integra Type-R is usually regarded as the best handling FF car out there.
Mazdaspeed 3's are much faster than some expect and fairly fun to drive. I was very impressed with it.
Just the few that come to mind for most people. Honestly, I think the 4 cyl. found in the SRT-4's are good motors, but the Neon is still a terrible car, regardless of the drivetrain crammed into it. Caliber SRT-4 might be marginally better. Regardless, I still believe too many SRT-4 owners are douche bags.
