Harness Bar

I'm not really to sure where to post this so if you feel like it should be moved... feel free.
So basically I need a harness bar for the R32. Mounted harnesses to the back seat right now, but need that bar as the "pivot point" so IF I do roll, I don't snap in half. I remember reading rumors of some guys on here custom fabbing them or that S13 ones will fit. 2 things I want from it
1. It works
2. It looks nice
Does anyone here have one in there car? If so pics of how it fits and where you got it would be much appreciated.

thats a shot from SAU. its from a 33 GTR.
ive been trying to find the same thing. Only thing i have found thus far is unofficially that an S13 bar works. I found one for sale recently (i wish i could find it again) that was for R32 and S13 and did not appear to be adjustable.
I will let you know if I find anything more conclusive.

god i saw a customer's car today that had his harness bar mounted on a bracket that wasnt flush against the wall and held on by one wimpy looking bolt...it woulda been safer if his harness were made of jello

To me it looks like the bar that comes down when you get on a roller coaster ride... Too bad it's better than a roller coaster!

I presume that you want a harness bar in order to facilitate correct rigging of a 5 (or more) point racing harness?
I am wary of using such harnesses without any form of roll over protection (ie: roll bar or roll cage). Would one not be worried about being crushed in the event of a roll over? That is to say, by being belted firmly in an upright seating position with a racing harness,one could be crushed when the non-reinforced roof collapses in the event of a roll over. Anyone care to discuss? Thanks!

That is correct! Car has a roll cage so it is not being crushed that is of concern. Due to the mount point of the harness being lower than shoulder height you can cause serious back issues even in a small accident. The forward force being stopped by a low mount point will end up putting pressure down on your spine.

I can't speak for the OP. But for me. I have my harnesses rigged to the rear seat belt mount. It is my understanding that running the harnesses at that angle could cause my back to compress in the event of a colission. I am not going to be in a position whrere a roll over would be likely in the event of a collision. For me, I mainly want harnesses for the auto-x track to hold me firm is my seat so I worry less about being tossed around in my car and more on driving and controlling the car.

That's were I have them mounted to as well, but you really do need a harness bar as a "pivot point". You would be VERY surprised at how little force needs to be applied to shoulders and neck region to do serious serious damage. The force is going to pull down and back.... BAAAD movement for your shoulders to be partaking in and good way to have a compressed back.

I read ya on the roll over thing, chance that you roll it is low so you could get away with that IMO. But the harness bar you really should have, which is why I'm getting one.

Hozer,glad to hear you have rollover protection. I agree that the harness bar is a must for protecting the spine from compression injury when anchoring the belts down low at the rear.
I also recognize that at an auto x venue, rollover and roof collapse is pretty rare. That being said, as I look out my window, I count 7 vehicles in the yard that have recently been in rollover collisions. Assess your risk wisely! Cheers!

I have that's why I have a roll cage and getting a harness bar fabbed :wink:
